Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) adopted the role of Ebenezer Scrooge and scheduled the Senate to work through the Christmas holiday.
Two Republicans - Jon Kyl of Arizona and Jim DeMint of South Carolina - objected, and that became political fodder for Reid, proving that nothing is off limits if a political point can be made.
Reid then took to the floor of the Senate to blast the GOP.
“I don’t need to hear the sanctimonious lectures of Sens. Kyl and DeMint to remind me of what Christmas means,” he said Wednesday afternoon.
He also blamed Republicans - who have a clear minority - for making the Senate work through the holiday. "If they decide to work with us, we can have a happy holiday," he said. Translated: "If Republicans just cave in to us, we can get out of here."
The Hill reported that on Tuesday, Jon Kyl suggested the Majority Leader "...would be on the verge of “disrespecting one of the two holiest days for Christians” by pushing the Senate to work on the omnibus spending bill and the New START nuclear treaty..." right up until Christmas Day.
Reid shot back, "It's offensive to me and millions of working Americans for any senator to suggest that working through the Christmas holiday is sacrilegious or disrespectful."
But the reality is that ol' Ebenezer knows that come January 3, the Democrats' reign of terror will end in the House when the Republicans officially start the new session, and the Democrats will have a much slimmer majority in the Senate.

Michelle Malkin was on Fox and Friends this morning, making the point that this is a “manufactured crisis” by the dems - they did absolutely NOTHING all year, failing to pass a budget, etc. and now all of a sudden everything is an emergency!
McConnell and Boehner should be SCREAMING this out to the country right now, but no, they sit back and politely disagree. Let the government shut down and let the Repubs start over in the House in January.
WHERE is our War Room on this. Rush is right, as usual, harping that Republicans have no strategists capable of mounting long term thought and action to combat the democrats procedurally in Congess. We can’t even mount blow back against Harry Reid’s mouthy insults and his contempt for representative government.
Deeply disappointed in the establishment leadership who remain steeped in hypocrisy, asking, “what election?”. Come on January! Pray that it makes a difference.

Reid is a communist so there is no surprise he would work through our Christmas..The American people should schedule a Christmas dinner for the Conservatives they do have a few hours off to eat I would guess..Let the Communist democrats starve..
This guy is such a scumbag. Seriously. Obama and Pelosi are bad but they don’t reach the level of petty nastiness that this vindictive moron does. It is such a shame he wasn’t booted out. Someone as petty and mean-spirited as him does not deserve to be on the national stage.
Clearly no one in Reid’s family will miss him if he’s not there to celebrate his holiday.

Funny how a bill to make commercials on TV be the same volume as the show I am watching deserves a single bill & gets priority in this Congress.
But true reform of DEATH taxes —— which is definately a double taxation of the same money gets kicked back & forth in Congress.
The Democrats have proven themselves to be bullies and blamers.
