Minn. GOP brings out the knives for moderates (hordes of RINO traitors get the zot)
Politico ^ | 2010-12-11 | James Hohmann

In a dramatic display of the new Republican order, Minnesota’s state GOP banished 18 prominent party members — including two former governors and a retired U.S. senator — as punishment for supporting a third-party candidate for governor.

The stunning purge, narrowly passed by the state Republican central committee last weekend, suggests more than just a fit of pique: by banning some of the state’s leading moderates, the Minnesota GOP moved toward extinguishing a dying species of Republican in one of its last habitats.

Those exiled warned that the measure, which bans the 18 former members from participating in party activities for two years and bars them from attending the 2012 Republican National Convention, may provoke a backlash that undercuts the party’s competitiveness in a state that’s voted for the GOP presidential nominee just once in the past half century.

AWESOME!

Screw the whiners. You supported people not of your party and then try and blame this on purist cleansing? If you aren't going to help elect Republicans then you dont have a right to represent the party. At least I don't claim to be a Republican. Those that do ought to hold the line.

“I think a lot of these people are not relevant politically,” Sutton said. “They represent a bygone era, sort of the era of the 'country club Republican' -– when we weren’t opposed to Big Government; we just said we could manage it better. This is [now] sort of the Reagan Era of the Republican Party.” “It’s funny, we’ve had more success since we moved away from a lot of these folks,” he added. “You can argue we’ve become more successful as we’ve become truer to our principles.”

Ever true. These people preach soft liberalism as the key to Republican success then climb over each other to endorse the Democrat. Of course they're going to have more success with individuals representing the party who aren't looking to bail on it every other second.

We BADLY need to do this in Tennessee. The GOP will literally let ANYONE run with an R beside their name if they want. No vetting whatsoever.

Minnesota is a state that needs a total purge of the Rinos and the Left. They have a Secretary of State Mark Ritchie who had connections to the State Communist Party (See www.Keywiki.org for details). Their senator Al Franken won a crooked election.

The Moslems have made the state a testing ground for airline security on the plane, paying in public, foot baths, terrorist training (the Somalis), taxicab drivers who discriminate against their customers, etc.

Time to destroy the old Marxist Democrat-Farm-Labor Party alliance.

RINOS belong in a zoo, not a political party. Their moderation got them nowhere except a big paycheck at the expense of the taxpayer.

Time to thin the herd!

Sutton made waves in October for blasting a group of Republicans who had endorsed Horner by saying, "There's a special place in hell for these Quislings."

In a state with a large percentage of people of Norwegian decent, that's a very strong statement.

It's too bad Al Quie had to get the zot. He's usually one of the good guys. And I'm really surprised to hear Dave Durenberger voted for Obama. But it's good to hear the state party is starting to take this seriously. Aside from the Twin Cities, Minnesota is a pretty center to center-right state. Many people vote (D) because, well, "Da DFL is da Meeneesohtah pardy, don' cha know!"

Does anybody else see the irony in this ridiculous "warning" from the exiled RINOs?
It tells me all I need to know about them. Good riddance.
...And congratulations to Minnesota's real Republicans. They are finally giving themselves a fighting chance.

Like it or not, party loyalty is important.

What's not to like. The whole reason for a party's existence is to elect candidates. If you don't want to elect your party's candidates then you are de facto not a member of the party. You may say you are, but you'd be lying if you did.
