Graham: If 'Don't ask' repeal doesn't go well, Obama owns it
The Hill ^ | 12/18/2010 | Ben Geman

Posted on 12/18/2010 11:43:40 AM PST by Qbert

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) does not see a political lift for President Obama in the imminent repeal of the Clinton-era policy banning gays from serving openly in the military.

“I think the people who are supportive of 'Don’t ask, don’t tell’ were probably supportive of the president to begin with,” he told reporters in the Capitol.

“Most Americans, I think, hope it works out. I certainly do. I think it is going to be problematic and whatever problems it has, [Obama] owns,” Graham added.

Graham: If 'Don't ask' repeal doesn't go well, Obama owns it

Graham, I suggest you and your colleagues watch it very closely to build a case to reinstate DADT. Obama, the Dims, or the lame Media is not going to do it.

It may be true that Obama owns the outcome. I can think of no scenario where the outcome is good. Maybe every Marine discovers his inner-tolerant-liberal-feminine self? (Okay, that wouldn’t be good either.) But in the meantime, dozens if not hundreds or even thousands of good soldiers will either be punished for “intolerance,” or will leave the service. No matter what, the United States will be the weaker for this “change.”

Perhaps that’s the legacy Obama wants to own.

He is a **m*s*xual. What do you expect. The GOP should have fillibustered this. This is disgusting. The House GOP in 2011 might as well cut every weapons system 50% because the military will be a joke now. The slimy and crooked defense companies will howl.

I think this is the point. Gays could already serve if they wanted. This was a victory for those who demand not just tolerance but approval--and a stern warning to anyone who will not give that approval.

“No matter what, the United States will be the weaker for this “change.”

-Yep.

I’ve felt for the longest time that weakening the military was the secret goal of all this. (The gays argue that DADT was “discriminatory”... but there was nothing preventing them from serving.). It’s not simply that many radical, Sixties-type Libs hate the US- they also want a weakened military so they can cut defense spending. (The latter reason is also why I think Ron Paul voted for this in the House)

Statement: ".... If 'Don't ask' repeal doesn't go well, Obama owns it"

Response: The problem with this statement being the fact that problems will quite simply NOT be reported. The media veil of silence is now descending over the military.

He will own it; and the Left Media will cover - no matter how deleterious. (It will be some 'other' problem that leads to demoralization with et al damning consequences.)

Why would any 'decent' citizen desire the same goals for our Military as does Communist Party USA?

Of course, there is no answer decent enough to print.

Yeah Goober, Obummer will own it, but our national security will be the victim. Saw an expert on FOX today say there could be up to 40% of our front line troops leaving and retiring over this. What type of gaping hole in security will that leave?

Obummer will have to institute the draft again, every leftists wet dream.

Aemilius,
You beat me to it. There will be no sexual assault/harassment stats compiled, let alone released, by the Pentagon. Any reports of actual incidents will be sanitized for any references to homosexuality (just like the cover up of Muslim violence with in the military). But most of all, there will be no reports in the MSM.

Oh, and the lawsuits and homosexual agitation are just starting. Harassment claims, unequal advancement of gays, recognition of homosexual marriages by the military, chasing off of chaplains that won't water down their message, etc, etc,

Democrats are once again trying their hardest to hurt this country. Homosexuals make up less that 2% of the population; yet 98% of the population has to suffer; again for "special interests".

I hope there will be a clause in contracts that prohibits discrimination lawsuits by homosexuals. Otherwise I for see A LOT of break down in unit cohesion when ambulance chasers are suing cause a homosexual just happened to be on point when enemy fire took him out.
Think about it; NOTHING has changed when it comes to homosexual militancy; it just now has a new breeding ground for "special rights".

What the hell was wrong with DADT??

Do they WANT to be able to flaunt their sexuality?

In my workplace if anyone talked openly about sex it wold be not be welcome, we wrote computer software NOT talk about personal issues

So..gays can serve already. Why do they need to openly talk abut it at work? And what percentage of population in the military is it anyway???

The current vote is up or down on repeal of DADT and I'm pretty sure Ensign was an aye. I could have heard wrong, but that's the way I heard the lady record his vote.
