Obama won’t own it. Realize who we are talking about here. If it doesn’t go well it will be blamed on the “homophobic” military culture and right wing haters. Remember when AIDs first came on the scene? It wasn’t because the gay community was jumping from bed to bed to bath house. It was Reagan’s fault for not spending enough on research.

The way this was pushed through is disgusting. We'll have to wait and see if the exodus from the military is as large as predicted, and how much harm the new rules will have on combat effectiveness. Saying anything which can be construed as "homophobic" may be a career-killer for those hoping for promotion to a higher rank.

I've seen reports on FR that the percentage of lesbians in the military could be as high as 40% (I have no idea how accurate that is). They will now have a new weapon to use to coerce unwilling targets to yield to their advances or be accused of homophobia. The only recourse for the target would be to get out of the military as quickly as possible.
