Another robbery suspect dies as shop owners turn to deadly force to protect what's theirs.
Proprietors of small businesses in Houston's hardscrabble East End, resentful of criminals who can wreck their lives in a matter of moments, are striking back.
Twice in the past five days, business owners or their relatives have fatally shot robbers on the premises of their shops. Law enforcement officials are stepping up patrols and educational efforts, and owners of neighboring businesses are traumatized and angry.
"There's a lot of reason to be scared," said Guillermo Memo Villarreal, who owns a record shop midway between the scenes of the two recent robbery-shootings on Canal. "In one minute, they can destroy you."
On Saturday morning, police said, a man identified by police as the owner of Shew Food Market, in the 7500 block of Canal, shot a robber who was fleeing, along with an accomplice, after taking a bag containing a substantial sum of money.
Two men later showed up at Ben Taub General Hospital, where one of them, identified by police as Elton Guidry, died. His alleged accomplice, Corey Taylor, 31, was jailed without bail on a charge of robbery with bodily injury.
Just two days earlier, an afternoon robbery at Castillo Jewelry Store — just three miles away, in the 4500 block of Canal — ended in a bloodbath.
Robbers shot the owner, 52-year-old Ramon Castillo, in the abdomen, shoulder and legs, leaving him in critical condition Sunday. Castillo shot and killed the three armed robbers, who had tied up his wife of 30 years.

Texas deadly force statutes are very reasonable, indeed.
Deadly force may be used to stop anybody who is threatening your life or anyone else's life, or robbing you or anyone else, or stealing your or anyone else's property, or fleeing after committing a crime. Furthermore, the b*st*rds cannot sue anyone who legitimately uses deadly force to stop them.
Additionally, we have approximately 400,000 persons who are licensed to carry a concealed handgun. It is safe to assume that a substantial number of these individuals are packing a weapon when they are in public, unless they are in a place where it is illegal to do so (e.g. schools, sporting events, bars, etc.)
Bottom Line: Violent crime has dropped substantially and is continuing to fall in recent years despite a rapidly increasing population.
It's interesting to see the reaction of FR to this true American, interesting but not surprising. No one cares that his name is Hispanic. What matters is that he is a legal resident or citizen who is a a productive member of society - and who as a bonus acts like the rest of us real Americans or at least as we hope we would act. Unlike the bigoted liberals who use race as a weapon to try to intimidate conservatives, it seems in the several discussions on this shooting like our members are entirely indifferent to race. A great American once said that we should judge each other by the content of our character and not by the color of our skin. FR seems to have accepted that ideal, while today's Dems consider it racist.

“Houston Police have identified two of the three robbers killed during a shootout with a jewelry store owner yesterday as Nelson Wilfredo Tambora-Ramiro, 21, and Onilton Bolanos Castillano, 38.
HPD spokesman Kese Smith said the two men had Honduran identification on them. He said their immigration status is uncertain.”

Unfortunately, failure to police our borders contributes to a lawless society. While I believe most illegals would be generally law-abiding or at least nonviolent were they legalized, their very act in defying U.S. law to get into the country evidences an attitude of “laws are all right, so long as it benefits me but I will disregard laws which I find inconvenient.”
When a society based on the rule of law lets a critical mass of its residents disregard inconvenient laws, they are sowing the wind and will reap the whirlwind. Ironically, what made many of the illegals want to flee their own countries is the prevalent phenomenum in those countries that laws don’t apply to those in power. Each ruling group in those countries tends to use that time in power to ransack the government for itself and its friends until it is tossed out in favor of another ruling group which does the same thing. Those same pathologies are crossing the border with the illegals and the U.S. government ignores that inconvenient fact.
My uncle in Houston says the Katrina effect is still in full swing and it’s the working poor areas like the Eastern Parts of Houston that are fighting back.
The dirty little secret the media do not want to talk about is it’s one ‘minority’ group engaged in violence with another.
If the situation does not involve a ‘white oppressor’, the media are befuddled on how to report it.
The perps in the food market robbery were named Elton Guidry and Corey Taylor.
I’m assuming you’re trying to blame the crime wave on illegal immigration. While that certainly contributes to Houston’s problems, that city has much bigger problems.
One of them was named Katrina, and another is home-grown thuggery. The underclass that produces it keeps electing Dems to run the place, which just reinforces the circle.
Parts of Houston are very, very scary places and have been for years.

I was going to post this same thread and saw it was already posted. I hit "front page" so it would get more coverage. I am thrilled these people fought back. Did you notice the victims in the story I linked were Hispanic?
I do believe illegals are causing much harm (I have a niece who has been in a vegetative state for 10 years (she'll be 28 this month) due to a drunk illegal alien driver (who had previously been cited for drunk driving in Phoenix AZ and was still in the U.S. and still driving drunk). And btw my niece is half Mexican.
I posted the new information about the criminals because it is important.
I also post stories sympathetic about minorities and the problems they face, as well as how public education is robbing people of their futures.

I totally agree with you, illegals need deportation and criminals need jail, or worse.
Liberals have no angle to blame whitey, while Hispanics with businesses battle criminal blacks.
