A lady bought at ticket for her and her 10 year old son. The lady returned their tickets because it would be too cold for her little boy. In the day, a 10 year old would sleep in his igloo that was built along the garage. I blame the siss-ify-cation of children on the public schools and wimpy parents. 30 below didn't matter, when my mom had enough, all 4 kids were thrown outside. Only once did I lick the fire hydrant.
Tell me about it.
Growing up in Maine, Mom's rule was that it needed to get up to zero (F) before I could go outside. And that "zero" was negotiable depending on how irritating I was.
Now, I live in the south. The actually cancelled school one day here due to "extreme cold" (lows in the teens) that was going to happen THAT EVENING! Not even DURING SCHOOL HOURS!
I had to shake my head sadly at that one.
Headed out into the bitter cold southern winter for my daily walk. It's 40-ish, I'll bring a long-sleeved shirt in case it's windy.
Or the sled runners....or the door handle....or ANYTHING metal.
Doing it twice earned one a label that was hard to shake.
