Since I don't watch b.ball, 6ft 4 my brother,,,,6foot 6 one cousin.....Is the tallest I've seen, but my grandsons are on the tall side....several over 6'2 in their teens. One heading to 6'6 at 17....taller than any of my 4 son's...OOPs one son is 6'3. I think 6'11 would be way above average and would bend down a bit to get in the average door. 8 foot would touch the ceiling of the average home with his head.....

8’ not impressive? Have you ever been in the presence of a person over 7’ tall? Do you know how many of the 6 billion earthlings are 8’ tall?

6’11” is considered perfectly normal today

Outside of basketball locker rooms, where? I'm only 6-1 and either look over the average room of people, or am a little taller than most.

Interesting, though, that there are references to Giants in the Bible, too.

“Have you ever been in the presence of a person over 7’ tall?”

I met an inbred mountain man hillbilly once way back up in the hills who was 7’ tall. His hands were as big as a catcher’s mitt. It’s not something you easily forget and with his inbred facial features i’ve tried very hard.

Maybe I’m not fully awake yet, but I’m not getting your connection between the two.

Hmmmm....could be. Lots of rocks in Nevada. I’m not Scandinavian but I LOVE herring. Does that qualify as “good people”??

Merry Christmas, Smokin’ Joe!!!!

“Have you ever been in the presence of a person over 7’ tall?”

Like I say, it’s impressive in a personal, kind of intimidatory way, but scientifically, looking at the raw numbers, it’s not very different to some perfectly normal heights we see today.

400 years ago it would have been a different story.

Blam, didn't the Jomon have dark hair? So, if these people had red hair, isn't European origin the likeliest?

No one knows what color was the hair of the Jomon. The Jomon may have split off a branch that produced them and the Europeans. I don't know

This (see link below)is the oldest human hair I know about. It's probably Ainu like Kennewick Man.

Early (Ancient) Hair Sample Raises Questions

"We came out with a dirt clod and inside the dirt clod was a human hair 14 inches long," she said. "It was so old there was no pigment."

"While scientists have yet to determine its age, the layer of soil it was in dates back 11,000 to 12,000 years."
