Anything over 6’ 3” puts a man into the top 5% in the US. I think 6’ 11” would be in the top 0.1% so not really “normal”. Wikipedia lists only 14 people (living and dead) who have been measured at 8’ or taller.
But I think you qualify as "good people" anyway!
Awwwww...you made my day.
Merry Christmas to you and your family, Smokin’ Joe!!
Hey, I could use a 10 fter IN MY SHORTS.
And I agree with you, lizard. I myself am a six-foot-tall woman (and a redhead — auburn, really), and I rarely meet another woman as tall as I. Oddly enough, my 6’6” brother (also a dark redhead!) went and married a gal 2 inches taller than me. Go figure.
Regards,
Very droll, but let's think about this. Has anyone ever studied on it? Whether cannibalism might be linked to giantism? In some species? Or depending on the age or gender of the entree? What might the results be, of a steady diet of one's own kind? I'd start with pigs, since they're not picky. See whether pigs fed pig meat fare (no pun) any differently than pigs fed corn.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my science discussers here at FR. Your inquiring minds and interesting comments brighten my life.
Between you and me, I was just teasing Sunken Civ about his Scots forebears as sort of a Pict me up on an otherwise dull day.
Thank you much and a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and yours.
Hey, when us Scots took over, A) the Picts were so upset they held their breath until they turned blue, and B) no one in their right mind could complain about wanting to leave Ireland.
I only say that with love, since I’ve also sprung from Irish soil. And the Picts and Scots are known today as Scots. :’)
Thanks gleeaikin! MC&HNY!
Hmmmmm, good question! IIRC the few human groups known to have eaten human flesh were not of extraordinary height, but in all cases I know of it was an occasional meal, ritual for the dead or extreme famine/duress and such, not a staple. In such cases usually the children are excluded from the adult rituals or have already died off or have their normal growth stunted by malnutrition before the the desperate individuals resorted to eating their own.
Merry Christmas to you also Azishot...gg
They say that nowadays, eating chicken contributes to early puberty in humans; something to do with the hormones? So it isn’t impossible that a steady diet of humans might have consequences.
Just found this website containing much info, and links to other sites about giants in ancient America- looks very interesting....

Interesting. I have heard this story for many years, but did not know that the bodies were actually discovered. I read where some bodies/bones were discovered in the early 1930s.
This plays into the themes of my two headed turtle’s third book, which delves into Earth’s past and pre-flood history. According to Col. James Churchyard’s work regarding MU, it is possible that there were remnants of that ancient civilization. From MU the population migrated both east and westward. Eastward as the Maya (before the now known Mayans) and built the magnificent temples and buildings that were toppled in various Mountain razing, tsunami’s and earthquakes.
The Mu/Maya people migrated up through South America, Central and into the North America. They also left South America and populated Atlantis from the east and eventually Northern Europe.
Westward, they were called the Naga-Maya and entered through Java, Burma and later India. They travelled westward until they reached what would be called Egypt. The folks from Mu that came westward settled Upper Egypt and the folks that came from the East settled in Lower Egypt (or visa versa..my memory slips here)
Is any of it true? Did Mu Exist? Ancient tablets and language point to such a reality. Perhaps Mu was not an continent loosened in the Pacific but maybe Sundaland? (sic) I do not know. But these are topics that will be delved into as the characters of Zack and Mack’s third book, The Smile People relay the prehistory of civilization. The Smile People are actually based on the “Hobbits” found on Flora Island in Indonesia. In Indonesia there is a new discovery of Gunang Pandang (sic) that is dated at least 23 thousand years old. That would fit with the Mu scenario.
Anyway, in the book the Smile People (at least a third of them) escape their land in boats as the water levels rise the the volcanoes blow. They end up settling in what is now the Himalaya. They re only around a meter tall, and ...well I do not want to give away the surprise here...
There is a part in the book where the Giants from the East come to MU for trading, etc...I don’t know if that will stay or not. There is another part where sailors round the end of South America and skirt Antartica which is now abandoned and run by “ape-men” as the previous human society is gone. Sailors gird their loins as the sail by the coast. In the distance they can see the Hugh structures left by the previous inhabitants. They steer clear of the man-eating ape men.
That is a small glimpse of what my two-headed turtle is telling me. Zack and Mack already have two books out. It is like a progression in not only story, but complexity. The first book The Smile Ambassador is a “novel for all humans”, the second, the Smile Thief is a story for all turtles. The third, The Smile People is a story of the earth.
Yes, Zack and Mack are a real, live, two-headed turtle. As anyone is well aware, turtles are great story tellers. They have an oral tradition. This is the first time that any of their stories have made it into print. Is any of it true? They seem to think so...
