The article didn’t say it was a joke. - Only that the virus association was invalid.
Human suffering is caused mostly by eating things that bring inflammation, which can kill. It can cause heart attacks, liver failure, kidney failure, diabetes, both type I and type II, arthritis, general nuropathy, hearing loss, vision loss, and hair loss.
None of those are a joke.
