Family ties keeping me here.
Well, I understand that. I also faced that situation five years ago, before I relocated to Texas.
In the end, I decided that although my wife and I could tough it out, I couldn't make that choice for my children. I felt it was more important for me to put them in an environment where they had the maximum amount of personal freedom when they came of age.
It wasn't my place to choose for my siblings, parents, cousins, etc. They're grown people, and have to make their own choices. I hated like hell to move so far away from them, and the beloved ground of my home state, but I also understood that historic forces were compelling me to do something I would never have dreamed of previously.
Historic forces compelled my grandfathers to move to California from the Deep South nearly 70 years ago. Comes a point where a person has to confront what is, and make the most pro-survival choice for their immediate family.
Good luck.
