ICE Drops Deportation Request For Man In Botched Times Square Car Bombing

PORTLAND, Maine -- The Pakistani man detained in Maine during an investigation of a botched car bombing in New York City’s Times Square no longer faces deportation and is pursuing permanent residence status so he can remain with his wife in South Portland, his attorney said Thursday. Immigration and Customs Enforcement dropped its deportation request last month for Mohammad Shafiq Rahman of South Portland, said Cynthia Arn, his immigration attorney.

Rahman was one of three Pakistani men detained May 13 in New England during the Times Square investigation. He was held for 15 weeks on a visa violation before being released in August. The man who has admitted to leaving an SUV rigged with a homemade bomb in Times Square on May 1, Faisal Shahzad, has been sentenced to life in prison...

Rahman’s former employer, Larry Adlerstein, expressed frustration with the federal bureaucracy over the slow pace of the immigration proceedings...Because of Rahman’s lengthy detention, Adlerstein had to hire a replacement computer programmer....

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement official didn’t immediately return a call from The Associated Press...

Rahman’s wife, Sara, didn’t immediately return messages. Adlerstein said she proved her devotion by sticking with Rahman during some tough times. “I think Sara has proved their love. Their relationship is stronger for the experience. That’s the feeling I get,” he said.

Well, it's not very likely that he was going anywhere anyway.

After his trial concludes, I suspect that he's going to be a long term resident of the US no matter how his immigration status is decided.

The boy hates America. He’s going to make a wonderful DemocRAT. I imagine that’s why ICE doesn’t want him thrown out of our country. The Commie’RATS need all the “voters” they can get. Felons and terrorists make up a major portion of their voter base.

If it means we can give him the death penalty, I have no problem with that.
Grant him citizenship one day, and fry him the next.

Romans 13:3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same...

Unfortunately I doubt that's the case. More likely, we are not deporting the gentleman due to PC run amok...
Methinks our current crop of 'rulers' are more a terror to good works, than to those that do evil...
But be that as it may, God rules over all.
Humble yourselves and Pray.

He was on a terrorist watch list until obama’ buddies pulled him off of it and gave him full citizenship. They can't go back now.

When I read about Americans like that employer Adlerstein bending over backwards offering personal testimonials and help in behalf of this Pakistani, I always remember something I read about WWII.

Specifically, what Carlos Romulo - Filipino resistance leader during the war and Statesman after the war - recalled about the Japanese he knew in the Philippines before WWII.

He recalls how hard working they were and how he thought they added to the quality of Filipino life.

After the invasion, when Romulo had become a hunted man, he learned that his gardener was a Japanese major and his masseur was a Japanese colonel - all along.

WTF? Did the powers that be forget Portland Me is where the pilot of a 911 suicide plane went through customs? “Snoweville” seems to attract more Somalis and Muslims than one would expect.

This may fall under that well established legal doctrine:
