My 24 y.o. son just completed a truck driving course at a tech school. There was a recruiting war to hire him. Every company he applied to offered him a job.

All of his five older siblings went to college. But he took a different course in life and I’m proud of him.

What does a new truck driver get to start?

Good for him. A smart kid who goes to plumbers school can do pretty well too.... IF... he’s realatively ambitious and can go out on his own and get two or three guys working for him.

People will pay allot when their crapper is flowing backward into the house.

I have always supported higher education, for myself and my kids, but I also find offensive the elitist assumption that some kind of advanced degree is the only respectable way to go.

Entry into the professions is one thing, but the masses of general "humanities" type degrees are pointless and useless.

If I had it to do over I suspect I would get training and apprenticeship in a trade or craft that I loved, get a few years experience to really know the ropes, then I'd take a few business classes at the local JC, and go into business for myself.
