The corridor from Salisbury, Md. to Philadelphia to New York City to Boston to Portland will be faced with roughly 18 hours of heavy, wind-whipped snow.

Travel will become nearly impossible from Philadelphia northward as the all-out blizzard ensues late Sunday into early Monday morning. Those planning to travel on Interstate 95 during this time run the risk of becoming stranded for a time.

What’s coming down here is fluffy and dry. We are close to the line where the heavy, wet stuff that will cause power outages is likely to be, but so far, so good.
It won’t be snow that takes out the power; it will be the wond. People who have generators or wood stoves might want to set up an extra pot of hot coffee or soup for neighbors who will be huddling in unheated homes...

Just got some snow pics from bro in Gainesville...looks like three or four inches on the rail of their balcony.
Wond = wind...geez.
That sounds nasty. Are you in the “jackpot” area where heavy, wet snow is expected?

We have a fireplace and a gas grill, thank goodness. I’m grinding some extra coffee and running some dishes through the dishwasher. For some reason, my husband is making a pumpkin pie. Poor baby has chickenpox.
If you anticipate losing power; keep a pot of hot coffee available. When the power fails; pour the hot coffee into a thermos. That should keep you in warm coffee for quite a while while they work on restoring the power. Same for soup. Keep plenty of sandwiches, salads and other item that can ‘served cold’ for food...you may wind up with an unheated home for some time...keep an eye on elderly neighbors. Most don’t have wood stoves or generators...keep plenty of gas in car so you can start it up to warm up now and then...do NOT do this in a closed garage, unless you just can’t take living ‘up north’ anymore...any other ideas out there?
I am a little concerned about this "humongous gizzard" that is attempting to "masticate" the entire North East....
It's either a case of "put down the egg-nog" or we have some giant live turkey parts roaming the hood.
Thanks Tribune7,it’s snowing in Ocean City N.J and on it’s way here.Nutter just declared an emergency stating at 2PM so everyone is getting in their cars to drive kids home.We all traded kids last night:).Eagles game still on for tonight.Worried about the wind.

The worst part of losing your power is having to rely on a battery-operated radio for information...that will make you pull your hair out, and clearly explains why there are so many uninformed idiots in this country. If you get your news from radio on a regular basis instead of the internet...it is like night and day. No solid news at all...endless recitations of ‘school and business closing’ and other pointless blather. How about a much shorter list of what is actually OPEN, then you can devote air time to more important issues like when power is going to be restored in your area. Go without internet for twelve hours, and listen to your local radio station as a substitute. You WILL lower your IQ by a dozen points or more...
My husband is now making clam chowder.
If I have to subsist on clam chowder; you’ll be reading my obituary in a few days... :-)
