For years the Global Warming Alarmists have been frightening Grandma with the thought the Greenland Ice Field is melting and her home on Miami Beach will be flooded.

When that theory gets refuted, the NYT dingbat will claim the moon is getting warmer.

Pretty soon the computer models at the global warming alarmist headquarters will be predicting man-made carbon dioxide causes global cooling.
Growth in government causes adverse weather.

The atmospheric temperature record constructed by humans is at best a poor approximation for the actual combined heat index for atmosphere and ocean.
And then of course the humans actually constructing the records are just thousands of years removed from their ape ancestry. So the accuracy and integrity of the data recording itself can also be somewhat suspect.
heat index should probably read heat content.
