Obama applauds Eagles for giving Michael Vick second chance (Obama supports dog killers)
NBC Sports ^ | 12/27/10 | Miek Florio

Though the Eagles didn’t have a chance to make news on the field tonight, they made some more news off the field.

Peter King of NBC reported during Football Night in America that President Barack Obama recently called Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie to congratulate the team for giving quarterback Mike Vick a second chance.

President Obama explained that a level playing field rarely exists for prisoners who have completed their sentences. Vick’s success gives all of them hope.

In our view, Obama’s gesture also provides Vick with the kind of positive reinforcement that will help keep him out of any trouble during the 2011 offseason, once he is left to his own devices.

While I don’t wish injury on him, I admit that I wouldn’t feel all that bad if he suffered a catastrophic injury on the field.

Yes as a human being of course he deserves forgiveness, but he didn’t earn return to the NFL n my opinion, not enough time served. They should have made him wait a few years at least or never let him play again. And Obama didn’t need to phone the owner and say great job. Aren’t there about a million people that deserve presidential attention before Mr. Dog Murderer?

There’s a big friggin difference between letting the man live his life after prison, and supporting his entertainment value as an NFL quarterback.
Sure I for give him, now someone break the dog-killers legs, please.

Yes a lot of people on this forum always brush off animal cruelty stories. Blows my mind, frankly.

I’ve got a buddy who runs a custom wrought iron shop. Eagles ordered a TON of work for their new stadium... then just flat out refused to pay after installation.

The 800 lb gorilla pushing around the small shops. Eagles have put a bunch of small companies out of business or forced them to write off huge losses. You can’t out-sue the Eagles.

Praise for the Eagles organization? Never.

"The only reason I will watch a game with him is the possibility that he will get hurt."

Think bigger - I hope he gets ribs stuck through a lung. (Just like the dogs he swung by the feet and bashed into the ground.)

How many pets were kidnapped for his dogs to practice on? That low-life POS is responsable for that too.

What Vick did to those dogs, he’d do to humans if he had the chance. Animal torture is one of the ‘trinity’ of sociopathy (the other two are firestarting and bedwetting).

We can forgive Vick and not have problems with his playing in the NFL, but he no more deserves a second chance at owning any animal than a bank robber deserves a job as a bank teller.

” President Barack Obama recently called Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie to congratulate the team for giving quarterback Mike Vick a second chance. “

Why is the POTUS calling NFL owners ?
Doesn’t he have anything better to do ?
Like play golf and party.

“Yes a lot of people on this forum always brush off animal cruelty stories. Blows my mind, frankly.”

Some people get more upset about a dog getting killed than a human being getting killed. That’s what blows my mind.

One woman approached my priest asking for assurances that her dead dog was in heaven. He told her simply “No, it isn’t”.

I won’t lambaste Michael Vick just because the President is supporting him. What Vick did was horrible, but he served his time and went through public scrutiny for everything he did. He owned up and took his sentence. Who are we to say ANYTHING about a man that made a mistake. We’re not perfect and never will be, what makes a person is the ability to learn from his/her mistakes. Vick has been nothing but professional and humble since being freed. He deserves a second chance just like any of you would.
