I think you naled it at the beginning of your post. Here are some things I believe: Obama is running for re-election, count on it. Hillary won’t run against him. She will take the VP slot.

I don’t share your pessimism though, I think it all depends on our candidate and the economy.

She promised that she won’t run for office. So the scenario I see is Biden stepping down and Hillary replacing him as VP. I’m not sure Hillary is willing to wait until 2012; I would worry if I was Obama.

Hillary won’t run because she can’t trust her own party and they aren’t going to fund her......after all, they threw her under the bus for a black (no less) Marxist. She never saw it coming...that’s how dirty her own party is....EVEN with Bubba by her side.

Well, she should have seen it coming, if only because Obama's candidacy was so remarkably similar to Bill Clinton's in 1992. The same themes -- youth, vigor, hope, and change. The same promises (remember "the most ethical administration in history?"). New, hip, happening.... The Washington Examiner reported Saturday that outgoing New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson could succeed Hillary Clinton as secretary of state. Citing "numerous sources" saying Richardson may replace Clinton and wants a job in the Obama administration and Clinton may be interested in taking a break

How far down the line of succession to replace the presidency can you be, and not be natural born. Never want to see that issue come up again. I seem to recall he’s just a “native born” or naturalized citizen, and Secty of State is fourth in line, I think???
