My God,what on earth was there to laugh about?
Five families are grieving.
Car exhaust is not pure Carbon dioxide, and you can smell it. They must have chosen to ignore that smell. Or maybe they were asleep before the fumes arrived. In any case it is a tragedy.
I meant Carbon Monoxide.
Certainly not a very Christian reaction by many of the posters here. By all accounts these guys weren’t doing anything wrong. No booze. No drugs. Just a bad mistake.
They should have got the car fixed so they could turn it off.
What kind of motel has a garage under the room??? A $6/night room??
Sad case for the families involved.
0h gawd s0metimes i hate h0w ya remark ab0ut the sh0es and n0t the fact h0w sad it is that they died we s0p0sed t0 have a heart... i cant tell..mercy thats sick
Human decency seems so easy to discard for some.
I agree maybe some here are not “christian”..even a back slider has a heart if saved by grace!
Not if you are asleep.
You must be vigilant about CO1, it is odorless, although is usually accompanied by other combustion products that you can smell, make that could smell, or might smell, or might recognize as dangerous.
The main trouble is you will become disoriented quickly and you will not be able to save yourself. Very dangerous.
The question is how did the fumes manage to seep up into the hotel room?
“...Five young men ...were celebrating a birthday Sunday night when they were overcome by carbon monoxide from a car they left running in a garage under their Hialeah motel room...All lived within blocks of each other in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood...”

I used to live and work down there and had several Haitian coworkers. They were a strange bunch, never could quite figure them out. There is a vast cultural difference.
Victims? Only of their own stupidity.
True. One thing is for sure. Twenty Bucks could have saved them all.
Oh good grief
RIP.
The original article is SO poorly written...stupidly emphasizing the details of five guys in one room buying shoes. It brought up every silly image I have of gay guys - and these guys were obviously not gay. That’s what hit the funny bone of some folks here - not the fact that people died. Humor is often very dark, very black and should be openly acknowledged, I think, not suppressed by people who don’t get it.
I know the word victim gets thrown around by people that make bad choices, but in this case I agree with the woman. They are all victims of this terrible tragedy because they had no clue the result of their actions would be their deaths. My dad always warned us when we were teenagers not to sit in parked, runnings cars. It’s too bad that these kids didn’t know the dangers, too. If they had I’m sure at least one of them wouldn’t have let the car run. I’m not sure, but I would bet most teens do not know this. If it’s not taught in driver’s ed (it’s been so long I can’t remember if it is) it definitiely should be drummed into their heads on day one.
