White House Plans to Push Global Warming Policy, GOP Vows Fight (Defund the EPA)

After failing to get climate-change legislation through Congress, the Obama administration plans on pushing through its environmental policies through other means, and Republicans are ready to put up a fight.

On Jan. 2, new carbon emissions limits will be put forward as the Environmental Protection Agency prepares regulations that would force companies to get permits to release greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act.

Critics say the new rules are a backdoor effort to enact the president's agenda on global warming without the support of Congress, and would hurt the economy and put jobs in jeopardy by forcing companies to pay for expensive new equipment.

"They are job killers. Regulations, period -- any kind of regulation is a weight on economy. It requires people to comply with the law, which takes work hours and time, which reduces the profitability of firms. Therefore, they grow more slowly and you create less jobs," said environmental scientist Ken Green of the conservative American Enterprise Institute.

Well they may have the Senate but there is a boat load of Democrat Senators (22 I think) up reelection in 2012 and this crap is going to have some serious consequences.

Yes, and there is a boatload of progressive Republican Senators, at least the 12 that voted for START, that will balance off any gains that might have otherwise been made by Democrats moving right.

The Dems, along with their progressive Republican abettors, are in control.

Defunding is defending -- it just leaves the weed in place waiting for an influx of money from the next D administration. To kill it you need to pull it out by the roots.

No argiment there, but if we are going to be able to do much of anything, we have to stop them from implementing the policies now, and pull the plug when Conservatives have enough control in DC to do so.

For now, pulling the fiscal plug seems to be the only real way to stop this.

Meanwhile, the Rinos (Twinkletoes Graham, et.al) are trying to revitalize the dead fraud in the Senate.
