Funny, I seem to recall a media in outrage when Bush did recess appointments. Now? Crickets.....

I though recess appointments were only good until the next Congress. Does this not mean that they serve only two weeks?

Six appointments, but I only saw five names.

Was the sixth Eric Traver to head BATFE?

lousy reporting!

“”Obama also appointed four ambassadors – Francis J. Ricciardone Jr. to Turkey, Robert Stephen Ford to Syria, Matthew J. Bryza to Azerbaijan and Norman L. Eisen to the Czech Republic – as well as William Boarman as public printer of the United States.””

Six counting Cole....

All are unconstitutional as the vacancies did not occur during RECESS - Article II, Section 2 of the US Constitution:

“”The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies THAT MAY HAPPEN during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session.””

I don’t know when if ever, recess appointments were done according to the Constitution. I think a stink needs to be made about it..starting NOW!

That provision was made because at the time it was written, legislators could be a long way away when a vacancy happened and the job might be important enough to get filled before the Senate could get back to work. Can’t think of any such job in government today that necessitates such a move - especially Ambassadorships!!!

HA!
Good catch on the ignored constitutional details!

Something we need to point out to our elected reps.

We should DEMAND to know why they are allowing such sloppy enforcement of the clear intent and wording of our constitution.
Also demand these “appointments” be vacated as not meeting the constitutional criteria.
Might, just might, throw a wrench into the Traver nomination?
Looks like a clear point to remember for the next election!
