2nd 757 to have major problems in the last few days. As they say, 'If its Boeing, I'm not going". This is the plane they've been trying to wish off on the Air Force tanker program.

American couldn't get one stopped at Jackson Hole yesterday. Off the end of the runway into a snowbank. http://billingsgazette.com/news/state-and-regional/wyoming/article_93e54998-1396-11e0-aadc-001cc4c03286.html

767 is the aircraft in the tanker competition.

At least Boeing’s perfect the art of an operational pitot tube...and their planes can actually make it through a thunderstorm.

"En route, a warning light indicated engine trouble," Black said. "On landing, there was an additional indication of a wheel-well overheat."

Boeing makes the airframe. Who built the engine?

A plane slid off the runway in the winter? Unbelievable! It must have a Boeing. Airbus never slides off a runway in the snow! /sarc

Could be Pratt&Whitney or Rolls Royce.

You’re right. It is the plane that they WERE trying to wish off on the tanker program. When that didn’t work, they got a ‘do over’.

Never comment on an aviation story on FR unless you have left seat time ;-)

Thanks, I knew that. The poster PAR35 was bagging on Boeing and all they make is the tube. I was trying to lead a horse to water. :)

um, A.A. is correct. The 767 was te bird in the tanker competition. ‘67 is a wide body. ‘57 is not.

Wasn’t the Aircraft, check the quals on the Pilot. If the runway was in that bad of condition, he had to go somewhere else.

jeez, must have been right after we took off! My only “excitement” has been the FO leaving the plane for a family emergency. So here we sit, waiting for the standby guy to show up. I love air travel...

Don’t know about this one, but here’s a story from 2008:

“Delta Air Lines will inspect the Pratt & Whitney PW2037 engines on its 132 Boeing 757 jetliners after one engine failed and another on an American Airlines plane developed cracks.” http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0UBT/is_41_22/ai_n30942121/

Still wrong. Boeing has bever peddled a tanker variant based on the 757.

“minor injuries during the evacuation” These should be worth a couple million, at least.

“If its Boeing, I’m not going”.

That’s funny. I always heard it the other way. “If it ain’t Boeing, I’m not going”.
