Rangel on Hardball: 'Republicans Are Scared to Death of the Tea Party' [VIDEO]
By David Freedlander
December 29, 2010 | 3:27 p.m

Charlie Rangel appeared on Hardball with Chris Matthews this morning and he seemed to think that Republicans will have a hard time fending off some of their more radical Tea Party members.

The first test, he noted, would come next spring when Congress must decide whether or not to lift the debt ceiling. If an increase in the current debt limit of $14.3 trillion does not pass, it would suggest the country may not meet its obligations and could shake the world financial system and could lead to a government shutdown. The matter is usually routine, but Tea Partiers have vowed to limit government spending.

"If they don't do it the whole government collapses, and what they would be doing is saying that government should borrow more than 14 trillion dollars. So that will be the first big test," Rangel said.

"I want to see how they are going to sell that."

**SNIP**

"We have so many moderate Republicans that are scared to death of the Tea Party pushing them right over the cliff," he said. "The Tea Baggers set the standard...the best Republicans are going to be which ones are following the Tea Baggers and that's a rough road to do."

I'm still wondering just how tax-cheat Charlie avoided prison.

There is nothing radical about the TEA Party. It’s actual pretty moderate :p

It is so radical to put a stop to running up a credit card to insane levels that will bankrupt this nation.

Isn’t it about time for Chuckles to head on down to the islands for a little vacation in his condo that he forgot about?

In Charlies world, RINOs are what he considers to be Republicans, so the old bastard’s got a point in saying they’re afraid of the Tea Party. May it continue to be so!

After November 2nd, they still haven’t figured out that the Tea Party “is” We The People. They’re arrogant morons which proves that We just have to send them a stronger message in 2012.

The only thing that worries me is that brain-dead Americans won’t see through the “No Labels” farce.

Rangle is deathly afraid of an honest days work, working for the American People who he is supposed to represent.

Instead he just can't not think about teabagging back and forth with Scarbourough, Reid, Schumer and of course Barney Frank.

Rangle always brings his sexual proclivities into the conversation and it is quite telling.

It's their word and one of their sick pastimes.

It should be thrown back at them when ever they bring it up.

I want both the GOP and the dims to intensely...overwhelmingly...fear the Tea Party.

Only when government fears the people is proper balance achieved.

Yes, Republicans are scared of the Tea Party, because most Republican politicians are only statist money whores, just like the other flavor (Demoncrats).

I am not too worried about the ‘no labels group’...

Many will see them for the libs that they are but even those who really think its ‘no labels’ will not get behind a group which, by its very definition, stands for nothing.
