The next RNC chairwoman? Amb. Ann Wagner wary of transatlantic creep of socialism
The Daily Caller ^ | 12/30/2010 | Alexis Levinson

When Ann Wagner, the former United States ambassador to Luxembourg, returned from abroad in 2009, she felt that she has not entirely left Europe behind.

“I felt, after I left, that perhaps socialism had begun to follow me across the pond,” she told The Daily Caller in a phone interview.

In an attempt to help end what she views as the government’s overreach during President Barack Obama’s tenure, Wagner is running for chair of the Republican National Committee.

“Wagner speaks highly of the Tea Party, adding that she has received substantial support from Tea Party groups ever since participating in FreedomWorks forum for RNC chair candidates.”

The fact she even mentions the growth of socialism is a plus, a big plus in my view.

How much in campaign contributions do you have to give to become Ambassador to Luxumbourg?

I think the RNC chair should go to Sarah Palin. She would accomplish more for the Republican Party and the nation from that position than anyone in the Party. Then let her run for President in 2016.

I would like to see Haley Barber take the job again. He was the most successful RNC Chairman ever when he had the job. Knows how to raise cash and recruit candidates. He’ ll never win the GOP nomination, but sure can help the candidate that does.

No matter what her qualifications appear to be, I think the RNC needs a wholesale set of changes, with new RNC reps from the states and a chairman that has never served in the RNC in any capacity.

I would ask all the GOP governors to work for new blood for their states RNC reps, as well as supporting totally new blood for the chairman.

Palin has already said she doesn't want it. It would prevent her from speaking out on the issues, She would have to parrot the party line just as she had to parrot the McCain line in 2008.

The RNC chair is anything but a stepping stone to the presidency.

If you have to ask, you probably can’t afford one.

My only concern is that Wagner may be tied too closely with the Bush wing of the GOP (Rove and company), which is itching to control the GOP.

No more Bushes ever!

Palin as RNC chair....NOT THIS MEME AGAIN!!!

She shot that idea down a long time ago.

Just another way for the bigwigs to pigeon hole her.

RNC chair would be a great job for Newt. He is not going to be president and needs to accept that. If he wants to be relevant and serve in a position where he could effectively help the nation and party.

Yes the “snuggle bunny” picture with Pelosi still irks me! Also as far as I know he still hasn't “walked back” his support for AGW! These two things are almost at the threshold of saying to Newt Go Away!

Another “interesting” possibility in my mind would be David Horiwitz, a former leftist who possibly understands the enemy better then anyone. (Since he was once the enemy!)
