The parents of a Yelm soldier killed in Afghanistan earlier this month have received cards from friends and strangers expressing condolences, and they’re grateful for the support.
“As a father of someone killed, it is overwhelming,” said Lt. Col. Patrick Collins (Ret.). His son, Sgt. Sean Collins, was buried Wednesday at the Tahoma National Cemetery.
Among that outpouring of empathy, two politicians inadvertently stung the family.
One slight came in a letter of condolences the family received from the office of Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash.
“Again, please accept my warmest condolences. May your memories of Bryn and the knowledge that he made a positive impact on the lives of so many serve as a source of comfort to you during this time of sorrow.”
[BREAK. This fatuous woman is an embarrassment to the state of WA]
The other slight came when Patrick Collins called the White House and asked to have President Obama call his ex-wife, Linda, to talk about their son.
He was told that Obama did not regularly make phone calls to the families of fallen soldiers.
Later, Patrick Collins read a story about Obama’s phone call to Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffery Lurie. Obama reportedly praised Lurie for giving quarterback Michael Vick a second chance to play football after serving time in prison for running a dog fighting ring.
“That burns,” Patrick Collins said Thursday.
And so is this fraud of a C-in-C who's enjoying a million dollar vacation in HI while this family suffers.

Obama can’t be bothered by we, the “little” people. He’s too busy with the glamourous folks, and too tone deaf to realize that he’s alienated the voters. I suppose that’s in the process of being taken care of as we speak, though. He’s better enjoy these million dollar vacations on our dime while he can, though. He’s about exhausted reparations, in fact.

Cantwell doesn’t know and I sincerely doubt even care about the Brave Soldier, or his family.
This was done by a staffer on her behalf, since she’s much too busy to actually care about all of constituents of hers.
Same for BHO.
These kind of “mistakes” are exactly what arrogant, condescending, dismissive, self-centered, oafish, 855holes do.

I’m a terrible speller, but even I know there are things you have to get right. If Cantwell doesn’t know that, then she’s vying for the “dumbest senator” title from Murray.
The headline is quite misleading. Substituting the name Bryn for Sean is not was is generally known as a typo. That mistake is a mistake not a typo
This is SOP for Cantwell and Obama’s administration. Everyone knows how classless and shallow they both are and yet they vote for them. I can’t figure it out.
Right, whoever it was did not check on the name - very very sloppy for an important letter. Now, I doubt the parents would keep it the letter.
