CA: Brown Blows Off Labor

Public-employee unions spent tens of millions getting Jerry Brown elected, but the new governor gave them the cold shoulder yesterday after his inauguration.

The Chron reports that the 18,000-member Orange County Employees Association had expected Brown to speak at its free hot-dog fest at the capitol, dubbed “The People’s Inauguration Party,” but the new governor only showed up for a few moments, grabbed some dogs, and scurried off.

During his inaugural speech, Brown told unions not to expect any favors and referred to a “philosophy of loyalty” that calls for a “devotion to California above and beyond our narrow perspectives.”

How could any governor be worse than Schwarzenegger? I am asking a very difficult question.

This is probably wishful thinking but . . . . maybe it will take a Democrat in California to take on government workers and reduce spending. Brown has taken unorthodox positions for a Democrat in the past. Wishful thinking, I know, but we can still hope.

First Cuomo, now Brown. Liberal Governors that may actually do something about state and local pensions. Am I living in Bizzaro World??? Add that to the somber mood of the MSNBC morning news show and the world isn’t quite right...

Can I be honest?

At this point, leftist Brown sounds inordinately more conservative than Schwarzenegger ever did.

Remember, it was Republican that not only brought the shovel, but helped dig this hole.

I must say, we all had a good laugh when all the government butt nuggets and Sacramento government payroll parasites were all look for Brown right after he spoke during the inauguration...

Brown just left the party and never said a word to anyone...lol

“Brown Blows Off Labor”

I don’t think I’m taking that headline the way they meant it.

:-P

“This will get interesting.....Will a liberal Democrat be more conservative than the Republican fraud Schwarzenegger?”

My bet is that he will, I almost voted for him rather than the RINO Whitman as he is known to go his own way (flaky as it is) and would be more likely than a RINO to make the hard (unpopular with the unions and welfare queens) decisions. We’ll see what happens but I think no matter who is in office California is going down hard and they will have to cut spending or start defaulting or (more likely both).

Union thug to the gov..”Jerry, heard you ate some of our hot dogs...be a real shame if you thought that you could take our food and hospitality and then fail to take care of our needs. Yeah, Jerry, it’d be a real shame.”

I tend to agree...

Brown is old, and does not seem to be concerned about be popular...He knows coming into a disaster and making it worse will put his legacy up there with public pay phones...

On the flip side, turning an epic government sponsored disaster around, would play well for him.

Yeah...he blew off big labor at a hot-dog fest. Did Barney Frank fly in to help out?

The Republican Whitman couldn't buy the governors office with 150 million of her own money, then loses big when her illegal alien employee turned on her like a pit bull with AIDs, only to have other Hispanics support the illegal...lol.

Red Arnold was very unpopular. He was a drag for the party and its glad to see him gone. Do I miss him? I don’t.

I’m waiting for the first liberal ever to be truly more concerned about “the poor” than the fat cat union bosses; bottom lines are bottom lines, and “the poor” don’t have $100 million campaign war chests.

On the flip side, turning an epic government sponsored disaster around, would play well for him.

The only way he can avoid the impending disaster in California is to piss off almost every special interest group that elected him.

That might play well for him outside the state. But inside the state, he would be toast.

a “philosophy of loyalty” that calls for a “devotion to California above and beyond our narrow perspectives.”

Fat chance of that happening. Half of these bloated a**holes are not even loyal to the USA, and the other half don't give a sh*t one way or the other. Calfornia is sucking hind tit with these hogs.

Brown is old, and won't be running again. Unless I am missing something, Brown doesn't seem to be concerned about popularity...

In fact, I don't ever remember an inauguration where the newly elected guy shows up, says a few words, and then just walks out without saying a word to anyone....The insider government payroll parasites were actually looking for him not realizing he had already left.....

What a hoot.

You bet, I too enjoy it anytime the government employee unions feel threatened, and disrespected.
