French are world's most pessimistic

January 04, 2011

THE FRENCH are the world's most pessimistic people when asked about their prospects for the coming year, a new international study has found.

The Voice of the People survey, by BVA-Gallup, polled more than 64,000 people in 53 countries around the world about their attitude to the new year.

France was the gloomiest of the countries surveyed, with 61 per cent of people expecting economic difficulties and unemployment to worsen in 2011.

Britain was the third most pessimistic, on 52 per cent, behind Iceland and tied with Serbia and Romania.

Germany was among the most optimistic of the EU member states, with 22 per cent of people expecting their situation to worsen.

Among the most optimistic countries were Vietnam, Nigeria, China, Ghana and Brazil.

Well no wonder. They don’t even have their own language. Just a ridiculous accent. They all walk around talking like Maurice Chevalier. Aw aw aw.

This is caused by their food. I spent three days in Paris a couple of years ago, and ate a lot of Italian. Yummy.

Mais, ca c’est impossible! La cuisine francaise, c’est zee verry best een zee aintire world!

Or do most French people become pessimistic once they realize they share a common border with Germany?

They used to behave real snotty with American tourists, who have been replaced by Muslims who are there to stay.

Il y a beacoups de raisons pour le pessimisme francais.

Makes me glad to be an American!

What shocked me is that Germany is the most optimistic! I am German, and I can’t think of a single optimistic German farmer where I grew up that wasn’t a stark raving loon.

What a minute, that might explain what is going on in the EU these days...
