Gibbs is Resigning as White House Press Secretary

WASHINGTON – Robert Gibbs, the White House press secretary and one of the most visible and forceful advocates for President Barack Obama, is quitting his job to become an outside political adviser. The change is among the many expected in the coming days as Obama redefines his leadership team to get ready for a re-election bid and a more powerful Republican Party. Gibbs said he would be leaving the White House by early February. The top contenders to replace him are two of his deputies, Bill Burton and Josh Earnest, and Jay Carney, who is the press secretary to Vice President Joe Biden.

The move allows Gibbs to leave the grinding pace of the press secretary's job, make money giving speeches and spend more time with his family. But it also will change the dynamic of the White House, particularly combined with the coming departure of senior adviser David Axelrod, who, like Gibbs, has been at Obama's side for his entire presidential run.

Good. Every time I see him standing behind that podium I picture Tony Snow standing there and it sickens me how far we have been lowered by these people.

Pretty common... even the current occupant notwithstanding, nomatter who it is, it is a pressure cooker of a job. People burn out quickly.

Just so you know - Pravda today has NOTHING at all to do with the present Russian govt. It is a freaky tabloid (always was).

Quite fascinating - its history...

His ability to be dimmishly smug with his vacant responses is impressive.

Jonah Goldberg at NRO is rooting for Keith Olbermann as Gibbs’ replacement.

Seems that Axe - Gibbs and all will just get the new obama 2012 campaign ready don’t you think? I don’t believe the nice chicago team is desolving - don’t believe that one second. Just getting ready for the final death punch to America in 2012. Your thoughts?

I'm still holding out for Alan Colmes. I think that Obama trying to do a "Tony Snow" by raiding Fox News again would be interesting. And especially given how Colmes can justify anything that liberals do with a straight face, he would be a hoot as the face of the Obama administration.

There once was a fellow named Gibbs

Whose job was to lie for the Libs

He'd say "they're not lies, they're just fibs"

He was actually a pretty sly “wordsmith”, maybe even as good as Slick Willy. Dodge, weave, deflect...he must wear tap shoes.

I won’t miss Gibbs one little bit, as I find him difficult to watch for more than about 30 seconds. I dread finding out who will replace him. Obama’s picks are a continual stream of disappointments.

I’d be willing to bet that his negatives are high. And he had to go with the 2012 election less than 2 years away. Like Obama, he comes across as arrogant.

Look for him to be replaced with someone who is “likeable”.
