I can understand your fear. However, we can see that there are certainly women of child-bearing age that run companies and serve as legislators with no problem. We even have an example of a female Governor who carried a pregnancy to term while in office - sarah Palin. Most of the state didn’t know she was pregnant until 2 months prior to the delivery!

So their very gender is apparently not that big a barrier to selection or election to a powerful post.

The other question you have to ask is this: will more people be frightened by the idea of a 56-year-old Bachman *possibly* getting pregnant, or another four years of Obama?

True but running a company or even Gov of a state is no where even close to being Commander n Chief. Not even in the same ball park.

We need to hear from the women on this subject. Especially those that have kids.

The more I think about this the more I think when the issue is brought up and debated the end result is going to be way too many voters that simply will not vote for a female of even possible child bearing age. If the first real potential nominee is a conservative republican it will be a big problem.

This has always been in the background with women in the workplace also. How does a company deal with high level manager that suddenly needs 3 to 6 months off because of a pregnancy? It’s still a consideration for a business but in the case of president I think it’s going to be a disqualification.
