AUGUSTA - The Maine Republican Party is declaring today the beginning of a 'New Day for Maine', as Republican Paul LePage is sworn in as the 74th governor of the State of Maine.

"This has been a long time coming," said Maine GOP Chair Charlie Webster. "For the first time in more than 50 years, Republicans now control the Blaine House and both houses of the legislature. After all the hard work of this last campaign season, now is the time to celebrate the beginning of a better day for Maine."

"We are so proud of our new governor, Paul LePage," said Christie-Lee McNally, Maine GOP Executive Director. "He has inspired us all with his amazing life story, and he has truly connected with the working people of this state. Governor LePage and the Republican-led Legislature have a lot of work to do to get our economy back on track, and we're confident that they will make the people of Maine proud."

[From WMTW]The inauguration will be held at 11:30 a.m., which is a change from Gov. John Baldacci's evening event. LePage will hold a reception at 7:30 p.m., but his staff said there will not be an inaugural ball.

"He's happy to shake hands to celebrate his inauguration but he wants to get to work. So we'll end it at 8:30 tomorrow, back to the Blaine House for a good night's sleep and then a good first day on the job," said LePage spokesman Dan Demeritt.

Demeritt said Lepage will not use a teleprompter when he delivers his speech Wednesday. Instead, he'll follow his personal style reading off a paper copy or going from memory.

Something that will not be read at the inauguration is a poem by the state poet laureate.

That has people in the literary community disappointed.

"There was no slight intended to anyone who writes or loves poetry, it's just a very business-like day tomorrow," said Demeritt.

Members of the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance said they will gather at Longfellow Square in Portland at the time of the inauguration to celebrate poetry.

About 5,000 people are expected to attend the inauguration.

4 months ago LePage as candidate, told a group of fishermen at a informational forum in Brooksville that he won't be afraid to tell President Barack Obama to "go to hell."

The discussion involved federal regulations that critics say are driving Maine fishermen to poverty. The remark was caught on video by a Democratic Party aide.

LePage told the AP that he regreted his choice of words, but he stands behind its intent. He said the administration's spending is driving up the national debt and "taking us to a place where my children and my grandchildren will never come back."[WCSH6]

LePage was instantly mocked over his lack of diplomatic skills after the Obama comment, from some of the folks on the Left and the 'literary community'? Perhaps those within the 'literary community' feeling outcast will substitute this time at their "I'm a poet, and I know it" rally [my title] by poeticizing any pented up animosity toward the newly elected governor.

LePage left an abused home from a hospital bed at age 11 to decades later become LePage mayor of the city of Waterville, and LePage General Manager of the famous Maine stores- Mardens. Mickey Marden brought Paul aboard to ride shotgun over the family business in 1996, expanding more than 100% in sales and size since then. A street kid from hardscrabble mill town Lewiston, rising from poverty and a French language background to help general one of the brightest success stories in Maine retail history. One could use the truistic argument that Paul's use of his communication skills and diplomacy have been quite productive in getting the job[s] done.

I’ve been boycotting Maine for 15 years. Think I’ll order lobster tonight.

The poets are all bent out of shape; however..no wonder the LePage administration left out the spot for a poet laureate, this year--!!! "It's a hard job" [sound familar?]

Lepage is Maine's Chris Christy!

50 years plus since the Republicans have been in full control!!

Now, we have to get rid of Pingree. Dean was a much better choice!! So close but no cigar. She's behind the curtain keeping a low public profile! or vacationing at Hedge-funder D. Sussman's VI retreat with Barney Frank and his significant other. Sussman is still under investigation.

State money tied into probe SEC eyes hedge fund backed by Barney Frank pal
