Reports: John Edwards engaged to Rielle Hunter

Former presidential candidate John Edwards is engaged to longtime mistress Rielle Hunter, according to a report.
The Jan. 17 issue of the National Enquirers says that the ex-North Carolina senator asked the mother of his lovechild to marry him only three weeks after burying his wife, Elizabeth, who died from cancer. The couple is said to be tying the knot some time this summer.
A copy of Elizabeth Edwards’ last will and testament made public on Wednesday left all her possessions to their three children - Cate, Emma Claire and Jack - and included no mention of John, her husband of 33 years.
“Heartless cheater defies Elizabeth’s dying wish,” screams a line on the supermarket tab’s cover. Below that: “Rielle tells his two young kids: ‘CALL ME MOMMY!”
An Edwards’ spokeswoman declined to comment and Hunter’s lawyer didn’t immediately respond to messages seeking comment.
“I do know that I love him and that love is till death do us part, and probably beyond,” Hunter recently told GQ magazine. “We have a child together, so at the very least we will be co-parents together.”
The Enquirer has in the past been both right and wrong on the Edwards-Hunter relationship.
The tabloid first broke the news in 2007 that the two were having an affair and the paper later revealed the lovechild she gave birth to in early 2008 was fathered by Edwards, and not by his former aide Andrew Young, as had been claimed.

It has become clear that Edwards fell victim to narcissism during his campaign, and also that witnesses and consultants saw Elizabeth as a shrew toward her husband, pushy, all elbows and beligerant. The affair was not a surprise under such circumstances, but the choice of women was certainly poor. Elizabeth did or did not have cancer when the affair began?
The media would love to destroy Edwards further, if that’s possible, and I don’t think I will be participating in that.
Enough. He has been vanquished, he has stayed low, even humble, and is now a widow, with a young child, and may love Hunter. He deserves a quiet and redeemed life, if we believe in forgiveness at all, whether we like Hunter or not, and I am no fan.
I’m just waiting for the next time he runs for office to find out who he’s going to cheat on Rielle with. /sarc

Neither he nor his wife were any kind of prizes. There were book excerpts on FR over a year ago. They told about how the Mrs constantly told people that he was stupid and unread and would still be barefoot and poor if it wasn’t for her. During his campaign for Prez she also ordered political staff around like servants. They excerpts eye opening.

Of course he wants to get married. He can’t cheat if he’s single. Plus, he probably still has this weird fantasy that he can be president some day and he can schmooze rich widows to fund him. He’s beyond creepy, but then he’s a trial lawyer so that’s almost redundant.
Mrs. Edwards is dead...long live Mrs. Edwards.

Rielle latched on to Silky with full knowledge that he was married. She is a tramp and Silky is too.

I feel horrible for the three children. Imagine having to go and live with the woman who helped destroy your parent’s marriage. The new wife will always see the “old” wife in the children’s eyes. IMHO
I’d bet that marriage was long dead before Hunter came on the scene. They usually are.
And here I thought all that dramatic, National Enquirer deathbed stuff between Elizabeth and John was just a bunch of tabloid fiction... I didn’t believe even John Edwards would be so crass and classless as to show up at his wife’s deathbed and ask her BLESSING on his relationship with his mistress. But, apparently, it’s true.
I chuckle even now at myself for doubting the depravity of all humans — but particularly the likes of a John Edwards....

Yep, didn’t take long to folow his schlong once he found out he would not get any money.
We all know he was a louse. Though, he could have allowed a decent interval to pass before he made the engagement annoucement—even if it were only for the kids sake. But, then, life is all about him isn’t it.
