How could that be? They can write papers! Term papers! And they have presented examinations! Now you’ll be telling me that won’t prepare them to get the job done. Nonsense.
When I was a factory foreman the company hired a kid fresh out of school with an engineering degree. Fortunately they put him in my paint department rather than engineering where he could be a real problem.
He lasted a total of 5 days and was late 4 of them and constantly said he was going to work in engineering any day now.
The best engineer in the place was a guy with 25 years as a shop rat before ever going to school. He didn’t come up with hair brained ideas that wasted our time. If he wanted to do something different he could handle it on his own till he worked the bugs out or he worked with us till everybody was comfortable.
