Barney Frank tells young TV interviewers job exhausts him

He’s old, he’s tired and thinks it would be nice to have some free time and not have to read a lot of very boring and very complicated stuff that he doesn’t care about.

That’s what U.S. Rep. Barney Frank told three college-age “Roadtrip Nation” interviewers during a July 2009 sit-down in his Washington, D.C., office for the public television program that aired Wednesday on ’GBH Kids.

“I’m tired, and I think . . . it’d be nice to have some free time, not have to read a lot of stuff I don’t care about,” Frank said. “But I have this chairmanship. It’s an important time for the country.”

Sean Bielat - Frank’s Republican challenger last November - said he wished he’d seen the Frank interview during the campaign.

“This was part of the case that I was trying to make - that it’s kind of rote for him at this point, that he’s kind of going through the motions, but he feels like he’s so important that he can’t not be there,” said Bielat, who’s undecided about his own future political plans.

Hey, I wasn't the one who put 'Frank' and 'job' in the title. Don't blame me.

THis is an unbelievable mentality for a public servant. If this is really how Bwaney feels, then he should resign immediately.

I know most members of Congress really could give two craps about their job but for one member to go on the record admitting to it is appalling.

Maybe one day it will be said of him, “He came to Washington and surcame to the pressures.”

Then why did he run again? It would have been nice to have him gone.

If he’s so tired, maybe he should quit. The nation and history would thank him.

Yes, destroying the American economy must be exhausting work.

Who is stopping him? I think he should be happy to have Sean Bielat take over the job for him!

He totally had his chance to retire, in fact I told him to do so last November.

The danger here is who would replace him. I think it safe to say the cosmically stupid voters of MA could install someone even worse than Barney. I know that seems impossible but when it comes to perversions/corruption/etc MA has few peers.

This fag is just teasing us he has no intention of quiting unless the heat is getting to much for him..Maybe he know he will be one of the first to be investigated and put on trial..And ,maybe the republicans are telling him to leave or get your butt put in jail..Barney would like that though he will have so many like him there..

He was misquoted. He actually said, “Want to go to bed with me? We could fool around.” but they re-worked into “I’m tired and want more free time”.

I always hoped Barny would keel from an apoplectic fit on the House floor.

We still have the 112th, so hope remains.

As a result of hte 2010 census, SOMEBODY is going to lose their district in Massachusetts. Perhaps Barney is volunteering. ;-)

Barney’s a ‘back-bencher’ now. No heavy lifting required.

His district is a mile wide and 70 miles long.

It would not be missed.

It’s not his district that is a mile wide & 70 miles long.

It is also a good thing to know who is in it for the money, power and prestige and who is in it for the country and its people.

It’s hard work raising your taxes and taking your freedom.

Thank you for supporting me. :)
