“We are not talking about a national ID card,” Locke said at the Stanford event. “We are not talking about a government-controlled system. What we are talking about is enhancing online security and privacy and reducing and perhaps even eliminating the need to memorize a dozen passwords, through creation and use of more trusted digital identities.”

Like the Chinese, I feel soooo relieved that this is not a National ID card and sooooo much more secure about a GOVERNMENT-controlled system.

"And all the handy backdoors and universal passwords to please any government drone".

What the state of Ohio did to Joe the Plumber overnight can then be done to any of us in milliseconds. Tyrants work so hard, and need every break they can get to make that vital job easier.

Locke is a dipstick. We had to endure years of him here in WA state. He’s a prime example of the Peter Principle and this is a taste of what you get when he’s given authority.

Like another poster said: I had to read this to see if it was satire. Sick.

Whoever has developed and tested the software to run this *idea* is a billionaire overnight. T His was true of the security software everyone wanted to buy after 9/11.

So now they are going to try to convince us having only one online id is safer than having multiple sign-ins and screen names? Uh...Hu.
