John Wheeler Murder Gets More Baffling
CBS News ^ | January 8, 2011 | Jan Crawford

Posted on 01/08/2011 8:56:21 AM PST by La Lydia

His body tumbled from a garbage truck into a landfill, reports CBS News chief legal correspondent Jan Crawford. John Wheeler, the driving force behind the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and former White House and Pentagon aide, was found dead on New Year's Eve, buried in the trash. Police say Wheeler's body was picked up from a dumpster in Newark, Delaware. But there's much they don't know about a crime that seems to get more baffling with every new clue.

In the days before his death, Wheeler seemed to come unhinged. On Dec. 29th, he showed up at this pharmacy in New Castle, Delaware, asking for a ride. That night, Wheeler was captured on surveillance tape, stumbling through a parking garage, looking for his car -- which wasn't there.

"He didn't look good, he was really weird," said parking lot attendant Iman Goldsborough. "He had no overcoat on and one shoe in his hand."

At about 8:30 the next night, Dec. 30, Wheeler was seen at a former DuPont Company building in Wilmington, again seeming disoriented. The next day his body was found at the landfill. Robert Dill, a neighbor who had seen Wheeler Christmas Eve, was shocked at Wheeler's condition on the tape.

"I have never seen him like that in my life," said Dill. "I have no idea."

Wheeler, a veteran, was working in Washington for a defense contractor...But law enforcement sources say the murder was apparently not related to his government work. ...

Police haven't said how Wheeler was murdered or even where he was actually killed. They are looking at a legal battle with a neighbor -- but friends say they can't imagine that dispute would have led to his death.

Sounds like there was something seriously wrong with him before he died.

The Delaware Medical Examiner has ruled Wheeler’s death a homicide but has not released the cause of death, pending the results of toxicology tests.

Odd how the media seems so driven to discredit or dismiss the victim of a murder rather than focus on finding a suspect.

And if the case is such a mystery, how do they know THIS?

He also managed to travel around a 10 to 20-square mile area in his condition during the two-day period, even though he was apparently on foot and searching for his vehicle.

This is a strange story.

That’s what I thought. How could they possibly know that if they don’t know who killed him, and why?

Okay, your post cinches it. 1.The media is owned by the shadow government. 2. How in the world could can law enforcement (also part of the government) possibly know the murder had nothing to do with Wheeler’s government work? This sounds more and more like another deliberate cover up!

Why hasn’t the media interviewed his family? When he didn’t show up, didn’t his wife call the police? So for two days he’s wondering around downtown and not one cop is called or ambulance or anything? And now they are speculating that in his confused state, he simply crawled into a dumpster to get warm and died???

Michael savage had a General on his program last evening. He was asked for clarification on some areas of question. Of course the General disclaimed knowing any inside information. However he did make a remark that was very interesting. He said we do not yet know what killed him, if he was drugged, or injured, etc.

He commented we do not know if information was extracted from him and what extracting the information might have caused a stroke. too much unknown at this time. Autopsy results are necessary to fill in some of these areas.

Agree; and sounds like it happened about the time he made the decision to actually send a message to his neighbor; if in fact, he did that is. . .mega stress can do strange things to people and coupled with perhaps, some other latent issues, who knows. This may have just snowballed on him. . .and he began to crumble. What is perplexing as well; is the lack of timely info re Wheeler's death. It has been one week and while they offer this up as a homicide; authorities have given no autopsy results or anything else to substantiate their conclusions.

If he indeed, sent an 'incendiary' of whatever sort (smoke bomb?) into neighbor's property; this may have been the beginning of his deterioration and perhaps he was in a manner of speaking, 'on the run' or imagining such efforts. That said; perhaps he sought out garbage bin for his own temporary shelter/safekeeping or. . .perhaps he was still looking for his MIA briefcase. We have yet to learn, if he died in 'bin' or was DOA beforehand.

Again, it is a bit strange; that so little has been determined - or made public; given the time line and by the 'who' of Wheeler, himself.

The government is way more efficient than we peons can ever understand. I believe Vince Foster’s “suicide” was officially reported as such even before any official investigation into the matter even began. No government bureaucrat was stupid enough to say “Vince Foster’s murder was a suicide.” But the fact that officials are declaring Wheeler’s death a murder even while assuring us it cannot be related to his government work—and all before an investigation has even begun—is intriguing stuff.

I remember a few such cases. Strange death circumstances, a few articles speculatin', then nothing. Ho hum.

How about the man's rental car stopped on a mile-long bridge over the Mississippi River, lights on, keys in the ignition. Driver gone. "Why the turbulence from passing trucks must have blown him off the bridge," said some. His body was found 300 miles down river weeks later. "He got dizzy and fell off the bridge," said others. . . .

The strangest part about this story is that (apparently) nobody missed him for two days. Why was Wheeler’s phone found in the under-construction house across the street? The fact that the phone was found there indicates to me that that is where Wheeler was abducted.

One of the stangest death cases which I don't think has ever been solved is USAF Col. Philip Shue. This is the one that was declared a suicide after he was found in his car which had crashed into a tree, with large gash in his chest, and his nipples having been cut off.

A friend sent me this info - I have no idea if it is truthful, but it sure offers an interesting theory:
A shocking report prepared for Prime Minister Putin by the Foreign Military Intelligence Directorate (GRU) states that one of the United States top experts in biological and chemical weapons was brutally murdered after he threatened to expose a US Military test of poison gas that killed hundreds of thousands of animals in Arkansas this past week.
According to this report, John P. Wheeler III, Special Assistant to the Secretary of the Air Force, Washington, D.C. from 2005-2008, when he became the Special Assistant to the Acting Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Installations, Logistics and Environment, was found brutally murdered and dumped in a landfill, and as we can read as reported by Fox News:
“Delaware Police are investigating the apparent murder of a former Bush official who also championed the fund-raising effort to build the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the Mall in Washington, D.C. Wheeler’s body was found in Wilmington on Friday.
According to police, somebody initially reported that the body was dumped out of a refuse truck, which would have been coming from Newark, onto the landfill. Newark Police spokesman Lt. Mark Farrall told Fox News that nobody had reported Wheeler missing before he was found.
The Wilmington News Journal reported that Wheeler was last seen riding an Amtrak train from Washington to Wilmington, Del., last Tuesday.”

Wheeler’s military career included writing one of the most important manuals on the effectiveness of biological and chemical weapons which led to his being hired in 2009 as a consultant to the Mitre Corporation, whose aviation system development department, the GRU reports, is at the forefront of creating the computer command and control systems used by the US Air Force in their fleet of aerial spraying planes.
These aerial spraying planes, this report continues, are based at the Little Rock Air Force Base in Arkansas that over the past few months have been involved with ‘test dispersants’ of poisonous gasses in the Afghanistan War Theater using chemical weapons stocks obtained from Iraq and held at the Pine Bluff Arsenal, also located in Arkansas.
Important to note about the Pine Bluff Arsenal, which calls itself “America’s Arsenal”, is that it is one of the World’s most specialized munitions and chemical-biological defense products and services bases which Russia had previously accused of not fully reporting the chemical agents removed from Iraq, between 2003 and 2008, and taken to the US for testing and subsequent destruction.
According to this report, the US relocated from Iraq to the Pine Bluff Arsenal an estimated 63,000 metric tonnes of the poisonous gas Phosgene that is described as one of the most feared chemical weapons ever used due to its ability to literally cause the lungs and respiratory system to explode.
Nearly immediately after Russia accused the US this past summer of not fully destroying Iraq’s Phosgene poisonous gas stockpile the Pine Bluff Arsenal began an ‘accelerated’ disposal programme injecting it deep into the ground in central Arkansas, but which, unfortunately, since this past September, has caused over 500 minor earthquakes to occur raising the concerns of their local population.

More frightening, however, is the claim made in this report that the Americans have also begun shipping ‘massive quantities’ of Iraq’s Phosgene poisonous gas stocks to Afghanistan where when used they will be able to say they had nothing to do with it, and believe no one will be able to prove it either.

Important to note about Iraq’s Phosgene poisonous gas stocks are that they are no longer able to be made by any Western country, including the United States, which makes its value as a Weapon of Mass Destruction (WMD) incalculable, especially in a war situation like Afghanistan where the enemy forces are firmly entrenched in hostile terrain

To the direct reason for Wheeler’s murder, this report says, was this past week’s transport of Iraqi Phosgene poisonous gas aboard a US Air Force KC-767 tanker aircraft from Little Rock Air Force Base enroute to Afghanistan that shortly after takeoff had a ‘critical malfunction’ of its aerial spraying computer directed command and control system over central Arkansas causing the deaths of thousands of red-wing blackbirds.
According to US reports an estimated 4,000 of these birds were killed outright and were quickly removed by US Environmental Services workers wearing hazmat suits and gas masks. Another US report states that cause of death to these thousands of birds was “trauma in the breast tissue, with blood clots in the body cavity and a lot of internal bleeding” which this GRU report states is consistent with Phosgene exposure.
Even more chilling than this incident is this GRU report stating that it was the second “accidental” release of Phosgene poisonous gas in as many days, as the day before, this same US Air Force KC-767 tanker aircraft also had a “critical malfunction” causing a release over the Arkansas River that killed over 100,000 fish.
Upon Wheeler discovering what was happening with Iraq’s Phosgene poisonous gas stockpiles, this report continues, he traveled from his home in Delaware to Washington D.C. where he openly confronted and threatened to expose the Pentagon and White House Officials responsible. Being a Vietnam Veteran who was responsible for having the famous memorial to that war erected, Wheeler was more than knowledgeable about the United States massive chemical and biological attacks in that conflict and had vowed to not let happen again.
Sadly, but all too common in the United States these days, when Wheeler threatened to go public with what was happening he was targeted for death, and as a “sign” to anyone else thinking of going against the regime, had his body dumped in a garbage pit for all the World to see.
Today, another great American was murdered in an effort to save his country from destruction. Sadly, his death will go barely noticed; the American people seem no longer to care as they continue to seek their solace in their propaganda media lies rather than confronting the brutal truth about the monsters they have let rule over them.
For hundreds of thousands of other Americans they have become so disassociated with what is happening to, and around them, they have proclaimed May 21, 2011 as the day the World will end and are giving up everything in preparing to meet their God.
The great American Revolutionary leader Noah Webster once said, “Every child in America should be acquainted with his own country. He should read books that furnish him with ideas that will be useful to him in life and practice. As soon as he opens his lips, he should rehearse the history of his own country.”
The Americans living today have utterly failed to heed these words and have, instead, become just what their masters have always intended for them to be… imbeciles. May God have mercy on them all.

Oh boy, here we go again. The Medical Examiner’s office is a den of “I’ll get ahead by stabbing you in the back” incompetents. I sat on a murder trial years back where the Cheif Medical Examiner testified one way and his assistant totally contradicted him. Then there’s the Capano case, where the jury convicted him in spite of their testimony, as we did.

And don’t get me started on DE police. Some fine individuals there, but as a foce, they couldn’t find their rear with both hands. Politics, politics, politics.

How about slipped a mickey and then mugged.

We know for sure that he was robbed and THAT was why he was not neat as a pin.

We know for sure that he was looking for his car. (Was he carjacked?)

We know for sure that he talked to his attorney.

The cabbie said he saw him twice. If he had changed clothes, and was wearing a hoodie, how is that possible??

I think Moose must be the lead LE officer in this.

Someone purchased those rodent bombs. It's winter and time when those critters seek shelter.

Since that neighbor's house is still under construction and not sealed, I'd bet it was either a workman or the owner himself who purchased tham. Makes MUCH more sense than John doing it.

I think John went looking for his muggers and found them and I bet he was carrying.

By that time, they knew from his briefcase that they had a biggie on their hands. When they saw him...they ran...he ran...they trapped him and killed him and figured LE might care a bit more about finding John's killer.

John was a powerful man but his wife is from a family of aristocrats. I'm sure everything that can be, will be sealed. The body has already been tranferred to a funeral home and I'll bet he has already been cremated.

Somehow, I don't trust his attorney. GUT..)

My opinions: If you get call your wife...unless there is a "marital problem". She's traveling?? So what.

Mention of his brother and mother....if you thought you were going to be killed, it was kinda like mentioning two guardian angels. The workers likely didn't catch exactly what he said and certainly didn't know what he meant. In other words, John probably felt that although he was bruised and robbed, it was his bro and mom watching over him that had saved his life....At least initially. (We all have these types of incidents.)

The lost car...He also mentioned a Hertz Rental??

Every bit of information we have been given has been deliberately shorted. This is Moose all over again.

Still no cause of death being released. The combination of disorientation with protestations of not being drunk and extremely bloodshot eyes suggest the possibility that Wheeler was poisoned or drugged. A cursory online search for toxins that produce disorientation and bloodshot eyes turns up—besides alcohol poisoing—the myotoxins from stachybotrys and the ‘date rape drug’ rohypnol. Doubtless there are dozens of more exotic toxins that also produce disorientation and bloodshot eyes.

The Wheelers maintained three residences. They had the family home in DE; he maintained an apt in DC; and, she had an apt in NYC where she works. His wife goes by her maiden name.

In another story, neighbors recounted driving him to the Amtrak station on Christmas Eve to take the train to be with his wife in NYC. Then, he was seen in DC the following work days. And, reportedly, he was coherent.

Something had to happen en route to or in DE. Given his background as a USMA, Yale and Harvard grad, the man was clearly intelligent. His ability to bring people together to raise funds and get the VN Memorial constructed, and to have served in 3 Administrations says he was quite accomplished.

Something was done TO him. No one as accomplished as Wheeler just cracks overnight. I have to wonder why, if the parking lot attendant noticed someone - anyone - who was disoriented, coatless and shoeless in the bitter cold, wouldn’t he have called 911 or some source of help.

No one as accomplished as Wheeler just cracks overnight.

One theory I have been nursing is that something happened to him that could cause him extreme embarrassment, and that would likely be something sexual. Either he had a bad date with a hooker (mugged / robbed) or a similarly bad date with a man. Something prevented him from going to the police or otherwise seeking help... from anybody.

Now what happned to him after that... well, I'm still working on that. Maybe he somehow reconnected with the person or persons he had had trouble with and things went from bad to worse.

Of course, the "house across the street, under construction" angle is the most interesting mystery. The police found Wheeler's cell phone there? And connected him to "incendiary devices" planted in the house? That would make the site an obvious point of abduction, if he was indeed abducted. It would also point to the neighbor as a "person of interest", if you get my drift. But then why was Wheeler later taped walking free (though "disoriented")? And from there, dumped like garbage into a landfill? And what's with the floorboards removed in the Wheelers' Delaware kitchen, which was then sealed off with evidence tape?

This is one very, VERY strange case.

It’s a super intriguing case, the stuff of spy thrillers. Unfortunately, a horrible ending for a man who led a stellar life.

To do the type work he did, Wheeler would have had to have had at least a Top Secret Clearance, most likely above. Would he jeopardize that for an evening with a hooker of either gender? Folks with those clearances guard them jealously and don’t take chances.

IF he were to take that risk, would he do it in a place like Wilmington? At one of the town’s premier luxury hotels? It’s a pretty small town where chances of his running into someone he knows would be high.

Even tho he was 66, he had to be in pretty good trim. (those USMA guys rarely quit the fitness thing). Unless he was drugged, his fighting instincts would have come back in a nanosecond.

I’d sure like to know a whole lot more about the owner of the nearby property that caused the legal dispute.

And I don’t know I feel really comfortable about the Wilmington Police getting to the bottom of this. Hopefully, I’m wrong about that.
