It is a new agey “spiritual” thing that attempts to reach an altered state of mind - like a Shaman mental exercise. The New Age religion makes no sense to me as it is a hodge podge of everything outside of Christianity and Judism. But poor Jared did alter his state of mind into crazy.
In another piece I viewed on youtube by him, he expressed that he does not beleive in God. I have been following the New Ager lefties on the Internet over the past few months, and really, there are many who are totally unglued like Jared.
A lot of atheists are into the mind altering exercises running around New Age circles. I think Jared is an atheist into the New Age mind altering aspect given the lucid dreaming exercises. They also bump elbows with luciferians who are extremely dark creatures of pure manipulation, materialism and distain for humanity.
The Global Warming hysteria has placed a bullseye on human life for this collection of alternative spiritual power seekers. Absolute disrespect and hatred for Christians and “their hateful god” is pretty much unanimous and that is an absolute compliment to Christians.
The UFO’s and alien stuff they have woven into their spiritual pursuit is even stranger. Strange too, is their thick and doomy ideas about power and their political opponents. Bush derangement syndrome...these folks are the weavers of the most bizarre tales about him and his family. It is spookier than any horror show you have seen.
Well, they sure have Europe convinced...the Left just gets away with these lies cause they have the media...
Well, he is definitely a freak. And that so called “Sheriff”, Clarence the Clown, has really turned this tragedy into a real freak show down there. Clarence is just looking for some of that ink and camera face time that a real sheriff, Joe Arpaio, is always getting.
He also had a Facebook page that indicated he was a supporter of Sarah Palin and a fan of Glenn Beck. I don't think any of those Facebook pages were real.
I believe it was Fox who broke the killer's name and then Shep Smith misspelled it as "Laughner". Within moments, bogus profiles for "Jared Laughner" started popping up all over the place, each one deliberately written to paint him as either partisan Left or partisan Right, depending on the motivations of the author. All this did was feed the mountain of misinformation that's been spreading about this guy. Go over to DU and they're spreading the same misinformation, "Look at his Facebook page! He's a Tea Partier!"
A public figure can win a slander suit if they proved the requisite malice. That's where the NYT vs. Sullivan hung the public figures out to dry. They said that the public figure would have to prove malice. One of the ways that a public figure can prove malice is to show the slanderer or defamer demonstrated a “reckless disregard” for the truth. If I weren't so sick and not practicing now, I'd like my chances on proving the media, etc. recklessly disregarded the truth about Palin and Tea Partiers when accusing them of adversely influencing and inciting this deranged killer in Arizona.
What I would love to see is a TEA party class-action suit against every network commentator who perpetuated the myth that this guy was in any way one of us, philosophically or otherwise.
I am appalled at the way that the MSM hit fever pitch to blame people they obviously don't agree with politically before the bodies had cooled, and the way the victims of the madman have become obscured in the eagerness of the Media to place blame for that madman's actions on the sane.
Further, I am angered that those whom many trust for information would produce and dispense such a tainted product, damaging not only the vestiges of integrity left their profession, but the credibility of America abroad with such tripe.
Finally, I offer my humble prayers for the rapid and complete recovery of the wounded, for the grieving families and friends of the wounded and deceased, and for those small and twisted souls who seek to sieze political gain from their pain and suffering by blaming those who are innocent of any wrongdoing.
Keep in mind the political parallel in 1995:
The Clintons were under investigation for Whitewater, The hearings were scheduled for Waco and Ruby Ridge to investigate Federal abuses there, there was gathering support for a repeal of the Assault Weapons Ban, Militia groups (not crackpots or extremists, but 'home guard' mutual support groups), were forming all over, and then....
Oklahoma City. The acto of at least one madman, or a sting operation allowed to run to far, or an islamist plot--we'll never know because the evidence was scrubbed from the planet amidst the Liberal media's assertions that everyone to the right of Hillary was to blame.
In the face of allegations, most militia groups disbanded, the AWB repeal went dead in the water (even though there were no guns involved), investigations into the abuse of federal power softened and lost steam amid the meme that the bombing in OK City was done, somehow, to 'settle the score' over Waco, and the Right, in shock at being blamed for such a horrific act (and in fear of being equated with Neonazis--another common media meme) basically shut up.
Not this time, please!
Enough of being blamed for the unconsionable actions of others! Enough of good and decent Americans being equated with mentally unstable mass murderers! Enough of the MSM attributing our reasons for fighting the Socialist takeover to the murderous acts of leftist madmen.
We need to fight back in the courts and the media and the internet and any peaceful venue we can while we can fight back peacefully.
The Left has been doing all it can to foment violence against the TEA party because it is the only trick left in its bag besides the defamation it is using to demonize those of us who want a return to the restraint of the United States' Constitution in government.
I am not surprised they have siezed upon an appalling incident to attempt to villify us, but I adamantly refuse to be painted with their brush, and so should we all.
Post a link to *single* false page (FB, MyS, etc.) on a website or an entire website, that was created to falsely portray this Left-wing nuthouse as a "partisan Left". Comments on a board, i.e. FR, don't count.
Take your time.
Right...if only that would happen the fact is Slick Willie and the left got away with blaming Oklahoma City bombing on Rush. So I don't see much of a chance of anyone getting convicted on this much less anyone or anything going to trail. It would be nice if it did thou.
I mean your are right but in this bizarro world of a left-winged owned press it is not going to happen. Right now they are doing their best to capitalize on a tragedy to push their progressive agenda by smearing any and all on the right for causing it. It is sad to see but the press is not the free man's friend anymore. But what is truly the saddest thing of all now is that the Truth is now defined by who has the best spin and gets more face time. The old nazi adage of tell a lie long enough and it becomes truth has been proven quite true here of late with our so called freedom of the press.
trail=trial
pirate arrgh*...If me spelling could only improve.
Pre-algebra??? That's like counting.
Sounds like you go to the wrong church...
They're not up anymore. I saw profiles that listed him as gay and another as an Obama fan. They were put up on Saturday (when Free Republic was bogged down) and aren't there today. The only bogus profiles remaining on Facebook for Jared "Laughner" are two that paint him as a Conservative. For whatever reason, those are allowed to remain. Go figure...
I saw what I saw but I can't provide any links. Take it for what it is. Enough people must've seen the ones where he claims he's gay and wants a sex change as it's been cited as authoritative repeatedly here on Free Republic.

This is a topic near my heart. A friend of mine (for whose publication I once wrote a piece) saw this thread and commented, "My word, you've been busy - and to good effect." I grew that thread to a couple of thousand replies, and later created other similar threads:Why the Associated Press is Pernicious to the Public Interest
The Market for Conservative-Based News
Why the Associated Press is Pernicious to the Public Interest
I'm not a lawyer, but it seems clear to me that journalism in general and the AP in particular constitute a cabal whose organizational premise is that members of the cabal have superior rights not available to "the masses." That cabal has been successful in promoting itself as a sort of nobility, the existence of which is explicitly forbidden in the Constitution. Claims to objectivity by journalism actually constitute evidence of the extreme tendentiousness of journalism. And the echo chamber of journalism's endless self-quoting is no evidence at all, in support of the self-interested premises which journalism incessantly promotes. Indeed, the premises are really one premise - that the public needs wire service journalism and must pay attention to it.
And it seems to me that the truth, that journalism is systematic self-interested libel of republican government and all who espouse it, ultimately must be vindicated in court by a civil suit against the AP and its membership. If Rush doesn't sue, he will IMHO find himself excluded from broadcasting by high-handed FCC action. If he does sue, he should be joined in the suit by all his listeners because their right to hear is entailed in his right to speak. And since Rush's listeners are ineluctably libeled when Rush is libeled.
And his right to speak to anyone who desires to listen is entailed in the existence of technology which makes that practical, and the prohibitions against "titles of nobility" in the Constitution. The First Amendment explicitly makes communication a right, and the patent clause of Article 1 Section 8 clearly anticipates and promotes technological progress. IMHO that trumps any assertion that the Constitution is silent on the topic of electronic communication.
The reality is that Rush and other "conservative" commentators are "philosophers," in the etymological sense of the word - and "liberal" commentators, politicians, and journalists are sophists. If you were arguing that in court, you might not ask the court to explicitly rule that that is so, only to rule that it could not properly rule that that is not true. Thereby placing the onus on the defense to disprove it. Which, since it is true, they could never do, since their claim of "objectivity" cannot be logically distinguished from the sophist's claim of "wisdom."
Given the scope of the AP cabal, I would want a lawyer to think in terms of a RICO suit for treble damages, in the billions of dollars. Are you actually so sick that you couldn't go for that much money? ;) Sorry, I know about your being on dialysis - and that can't be any kind of joke.

*placemarker bump*
It was obvious from the very beginning that the guy was mentally unstable and in no way related to the TEA Party or Sarah Palin.
The week-end media saw this incident as an opportunity to turn the incident into a Katrina-like feeding frenzy, FOX News and the WSJ, included. Sarah Palin sells news, she’s a big attraction, so anything that the media could do to tie this to Sarah Palin, they did, ignoring any facts that got in the way. Shepard Smith, was gunning for another award.
The Democrats, on the other hand, were exploiting the national tragedy for political gain, just like at the Wellstone Memorial. It was shameful and disrespectful of the Congresswoman and others, who had been shot down, senselessly and irrationally, but an obviously unstable young man.
Thanks for the pings/posts/links. Good thread on many levels.
