Mainstream Dem group targets GOP with bulls-eyes, terms states Bush won in 2004 "behind enemy lines"

Poring over the 2004 electoral map has been a deflating experience for Democrats, what with all that red splashed across the nation's vast interior. But cartography need not be destiny -- not if Democrats finally get serious about rolling back the GOP's scarlet tide in America's heartland.

Just as Republicans pursued a Southern strategy in the late 1960s, Democrats should craft a heartland strategy that TARGETS winnable states in the South, the lower Midwest, and the Rocky Mountain West. At the very least, a heartland strategy would wreak havoc behind ENEMY lines.

Here's an article from the official magazine of the DLC, the centrist Democratic group founded by Bill Clinton. As inside the beltway a dem group as you can find.

And they're using the word target. They're calling states Bush won the enemy. Saying the dems have to strike behind enemy lines.

There's a map on the article that shows all 50 states and the Bush states from 2004 have bulls-eyes on them. Was anyone in the media attacking the DLC for inciting violence? For creating a climate of hate?

But it’s different you see...because Sarah Palin uses guns...and Republicans are mean (sarcasm off).

Did you see that lame quote Krugman found from Glenn Beck?

No I didn’t.

What was it? I’m guessing it was one of Glenn’s patented partial bait quotes like Friday.

And it was none other than the Vacationer-in-Chief who referred to Republicans, and anyone else opposed to unfettered illegal immigration cum amnesty, as “the enemy.”

Lame is an excellent way to put what the liberals have been doing for the past 2 days. Grasping at anything to sling mud onto the right, they’ve resorted to what borders on hysteria.

I can’t seem to find it now..

Maybe it wasn’t Krugman..

It was a liberal rag and the quote was along the lines of “Violent speech breeds violent acts” or something like that.

THanks for posting that. It’s basically the same thing as the map Palin used. I’m sure hundreds of other variations have been used. Basically, you highlight various states/districts that your side won or that were close and that you hope to win next time.

Now, could Gov Palin’s graphic used a different symbol? Sure. Would mini-flags or those teardrops you see on Google maps have been better? Probably. But the left and the media would still blameher for listing specific districts and identifying them in some way.

She didn’t use the term enemy as the DLC did.

But this map was from 2004. Stuff like this has been around for a while. It’s perfectly normal.

No one gets worked up over any of it. This guy Loughner had his own mental issues and had issues with Giffords going back to 2007. Palin had absolutely zero to do with it and it’s absurd to say she did. It was a pure coincidence she was on that list.

I am concerned, however, that we may now see the left try and recruit someone or set someone up to do an attack that can be blamed on her. Find some poor patsy type guy and pay him to go after someone else who was on that list.

The media never cared when Obama was calling on his supporters to get in people’s faces, when his supporters were roughing up and intimidating Hillary Clinton voters at various caucuses back in 2008, when he was playing music calling her a bitch at his victory parties, when his supporters were going around calling Gov Palin the c word, or for her to be gang raped.

Bush didn’t actually win in 2004.
Kerry lost because of the determination of a few hundred veteran patriots.
Bush then took the election by default.
