fyi...

nyt is reporting that mother worked for many years for pima county park (Agua Caliente from what I can see), father was described by a neighbor as “very aggressive” and it seems like his employment is unknown or none. Other sites say he works on some antique cars. Ok, fine, to each their own.

It’s rapidly becoming obvious the conservative/tea party bashing is just standard “don’t waste a crisis” tactic by the blogging left.

I’m just hypothesizing, it sounds more like we might have some county folks who obviously knew about Amy’s (Mom’s) troubles at home to some extent, as Jared had that “diversion” to avoid a conviction - that involved police. Police are then very very aware that this county employee’s kid has all kinds of problems. So this situation has to be known. Unfortunate, but no one suspects anything this bad.

Does mom go to work every day managing a county park, dad is home, Jared is home putting letters from congresswoman in his “safe”, dropping/kicked out of school, buying a gun ? Dad’s hanging around all day and is unaware, yelling at the neighbors to pick up their trash ? Sounds like trouble here, of course, sliding downhill to Jan 8.

Now, county (Pima county) sheriff’s office... hmmm... poor loyal county employee Amy (Mom) has monster troubles... the “kid hit the fan”. I’m just not seeing a real “go-gettem” attitude from sheriff on this case whenever Jared is specifically discussed. Perhaps he’d like to find an excuse (tv/radio/internet) for the kid, and oops - was he not supposed to say all his political talk there for the defense attorneys to use saying his investigation was prejudiced ? It seems that AZ is taking a long time to come up with charges; I wonder how much the phones are buzzing down in Pima. Seems like the Feds very quickly determined that Judge was not there just to say hello as sheriff initially said (which would make it NOT a federal crime), but he had dropped by to discuss some dang big case backlog with the local Congresswoman.

The college has nicely said that no, they did not kick him out, he withdrew. (nice legal move... if they kicked him out, maybe they’d have some more splainin as to why no LE report. (hmmm.. county college, same county) But he left on his own.

Just sounds like local Pima politics is just in a very unfortunate spot - I don’t remember 1 republican mentioned anywhere. One article I read reported someone saw Dad crying in the driveway.

I think this crisis to call for gun control will continue to be pushed by left, but this messy situation is what will probably unfold.

It seems to really be about how differently kids are raised today, in a liberal, politically correct fashion, way too much latitude, no structure, extremely light punishments when they are given, parents not managing their home, etc., and it just doesn’t work. Not that in the old days there were no such problems, but it seems like schools, parents, cops, do everything but actually put their proverbial foot down out of fear. Instead, it’s tons of money and time spent (see Pima counties websites) on all sorts of programs (I’m reminded of Gene Wilder trying to talk to that big prison inmate) to avoid situations like this, but with no improvement over the 3-room schoolhouse. This tragedy seems like EXACTLY what the “diversion” program (for 1st offendors) is supposed to try to prevent.

Of course, we all know that the completely random attack is impossible to prevent as long as their are sticks and rocks around.

And unfortunately, the media is babbling about how to take away “all” guns, and no one is mentioning that the poor Congresswoman had absolutely no security measures taken. I wish they could see how foolish their “news” is when they don’t highlight that complete lack of security. Would not every state want to protect its top/visible leaders when they have these types of open meetings ? A little preparation, a little screening, and perhaps low-key and professional approach, most regrettably, would have saved lives. If the shooter used different tactics it could have been very much worse. I just find no excuse for having zero security preparation for public figures while trying to disarm law-abiding citizens.

IMHO.

Lots of good insights.

It will be really interesting watching how the whole situation plays out with that despicable sheriff.

I wonder if he got special treatment because Mom was a county employee, and that enabled a preventable tragedy?
