How many arrests and interactions did Loughner have with local law enforcement? If Sheriff Doofus' deputies can't identify someone as being floridly psychotic when it's obvious to anyone in a classroom with him, maybe he needs to screen his deputies more thoroughly before hiring them.

The Sheriff is on record as refusing to enforce SB 1070, the Arizona immigration law.

What are the chances that his deputies are taking the time and making the effort to involuntarily commit unmedicated paranoid schizophrenics to a mental hospital?

It's probably fairly low. Easier (and safer) to give out red light tickets to motorists.

They could have done this. Don’t ask me why they did not. However most mental hospitals can only keep them for so long, and once they are released they usually stop taking their meds due to the horrid side affects of the drugs. Then the police are back to square one. It used to be we would lock people like this long term but that ended because the left thought it was terrible to keep someone in a hospital all their lives. So we get this.
