A classmate of the man accused of shooting Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords this morning describes him as "left wing" and a "pot head" in a series of posts on Twitter this afternoon.
Caitie Parker did not immediately respond to our request for an interview, but her "tweets" in the hours after the shooting paint a picture of Jared Loughner as a substance-abusing loner who had met Giffords before the shooting. She says, Loughner described the congresswoman as "stupid and unintelligent."
We've confirmed that Parker and Loughner went to school together at Mountain View High School in Tucson and that both attended Pima Community College, so her claims of knowing Loughner seem to be legit.
Parker "tweets" that she and Loughner were in the band together and were friends until 2007 when he became "reclusive" after getting alcohol poisoning and dropping out of college.
She describes him as "quite liberal" and as a "political radical."

Don’t fall into the same trap the DNC and its minions have fallen.
They politicized the tragedy in the most heinous, vicious way possible.
The are trying to make this into Obama’s OK moment, but have 1) no comparison to the carnage, 2) once again shown the moderates and Indies that they are for the left and power at any price, not for the citizens, 3) Obama’s moment has come and gone. Monday is too late, for him to bandage this.
The DNC once again overplayed its hand.
Don’t do this on the right.
Is twitter and tweeting from a miniminded exclassmate a reliable source? She sounds, by her vocabulary, like the equivalent of a Valley Girl. The shooter was likely used by the left to create another useful crises, since he is, from all observable information, soft in the head too.
This guy is just plain nuts. Yeah there are a few things he talks about that sound rightwing, but he throws in just as much leftwing with it. Pot smoker, flag burner, atheist, lucid dreaming and other new age stuff.
It all comes out as a jumbled mess, bits and pieces of ideas that have no coherence or cohesiveness. There is no logic that any sane person can see, and I dare anyone to make any sense of it.
