Maybe. Perp's posts (if they are his) indicate a fixation with NASA faking their accomplishments. Giffords' hubby is an astronaut slated to fly an upcoming shuttle mission. Giffords' bro-in-law is an astronaut on the space station. So, maybe the perp shot her because he was mad at NASA. I know it sounds crazy, but the perp seems crazy.
Well, a friend of mine has schizophrenia. He is strange even on the meds, but is not violent or angry when on them. Angry and paranoid when off. I know of two others, one dangerous at times, the other I’m not sure. It is a tragic illness. It is incredibly sad when bad things happen, but more than anything, I believe untreated schizophrenia killed and maimed the people in AZ. It has happened for many years, and will continue to happen. This though, may have been prevented if it is true (as the Sheriff said) that he had made threats before.
The thing with schizophrenia is that people can be fine for the first years/decades of their lives, then go batty, seemingly out of the blue.
The friend of mine with schizophrenia is the most meek, sensitive, caring person, when he is medicated. Even with meds though, he is unable to hold a job or even to be much of a friend. He will always be kind of “odd.”
