The Arizona sheriff investigating the Tucson shooting that left U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords critically wounded had harsh words today for those engaging in political rhetoric, calling conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh "irresponsible" for continuing the vitriol.
"The kind of rhetoric that flows from people like Rush Limbaugh, in my judgment he is irresponsible, uses partial information, sometimes wrong information," Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik said today. "[Limbaugh] attacks people, angers them against government, angers them against elected officials and that kind of behavior in my opinion is not without consequences."
Limbaugh today railed against the media and Dupnik for trying to draw a link between the heated political climate and the shooting rampage, calling the sheriff a "fool." But Dupnik stood by his assertions.
"The vitriol affects the [unstable] personality that we are talking about," he said. "You can say, 'Oh no, it doesn't,' but my opinion is that it does."

Dupnik said he'd like to see the federal government establish some kind of commission to deal with civility in the United States and make recommendations about how to get it back.
The current President of the United States is a champ when it comes to angry rhetoric against ANYONE that crosses him. “They bring a knife to a fight; WE bring a gun!” and other statements referring to some U.S. citizens as “enemies” that need to be “punished”. . and on and on . .
Should put that out on urban dictionary.
The sheriff should get off his soapbox and back to the job that the people of Arizona are paying him to do .... protecting them.
Sort of like Stivik = Meathead?
In other news, General Motors blames Arizona shooting on Toyota and Ford!
Tainting the jury pool!! He’s giving this nutbag a defense that most lawyers dream of!
He could start with the mirror. Once he establishes civility there, then he can start in on the politicians he supports.
I wonder how the leftist belief that criminals don't act because of personal decisions, but because of vague societal factors can survive even the first year of a law enforcement career. Yet that sheriff seems to be clinging to that belief (he must be bitter).
Sheriff is quite full of himself
That little number by Will is a zinger if I’d ever heard of one. And a “mental tic”—that so profoundly encapsulates so much of what you see from the left so simply. Very well done.
How does some idiot like this get to be a Sheriff? Oh yea, I remember, the voters put him there. Says a lot about Tucson.
That’s very interesting. Maybe the sheriff close enough to the family that he’s purposely giving the suspect a mental illness defense?
This clown belongs in the very jail he isn’t competent enough to run...
P.S. saw a ‘net rumor a few minutes ago claiming the shooter is his grandson...
what a tangled web if true....
The higher the circus monkey climbs the pole, the more you see his ass.
“Dupnik must be some Eastern European languages word for blithering idiot.”
“Dupnik” - a descendant or a member of the family of “Dupa.”
And here we have the sheriff spewing ignorant and "irresponsible" vitriol. Priceless.
LLS
More is coming out about how much this so called Sheriff knew about the troubling history of this kid. He may be more culpable that he realizes, and spewed off the mouth to try to cover his tracks.
