Despite earlier reports that he would end the segment, Keith Olbermann announced Monday night that Countdowns Worst Person in the World segment will continue in some form, but under a different name.
He explained the fact that the segment was rooted in satire, but that some still thought he was literally claiming that these were the actual worst people in the world, and theres potential danger in that.
Olbermann explained that the purposes of the segment, criticism, sarcasm, satire, calling out, even ridiculing, remain relevant and important, maybe more so now than ever before, and quoted philosopher Henri Bergson: Laughter is a social sanction against inflexible behavior.

DEADLIEST PERSON IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!
Uberdork IS the WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD........................
So I guess this will be touted as an example of how MSNBC is taking the high ground and “toning down the rhetoric”, etc ad nauseum.
Who or what is this creature doing on this website?
Somehow I doubt they’ll be taking any high roads.
Keith, do more people laugh with you or at you?
How many people GOT SHOT because of Keith Olberman?
Depends on the meaning of "high."
I thought liberals thought that their satire, ridicule, etc. is ok. It’s only conservative criticism of the liberal sacred cows that are beyond the pale. (sarcasm)
More drivel from MSLSD.
Who wants to wager how long it'll be before he pops a vein.
I'll give him one & a half shows. One if the topic of Cheney comes up.
In further news, it is reported that Olbermann will wear oven mitts 24/7, to keep from scratching anyone’s eyes out.
Usually, I think it destructive and wrong to dumb down your message to the point where even the stupidest people on earth can't get confused, but I think it's an excellent idea for Olbermann's audience.
When you speak to them of nuance, they wonder what was wrong with the old ance.
I can only hope that when Comcast takes over, they will fire Olbermann. He renewed his contract in 2007 for 4 years, and it’s rumored NBC is paying him $7 million annually.
Olberfag can call his segment whatever he wants. No one cares. No one is watching.
Believe it or not, I know a woman who actually watches Olbermann. You cannot talk to her about politics. It's like banging your head against a wall.
He’s inciting hatred.
Oh Man! It was my dream to be profiled in that segment some day. It would give me such rep with my peeps!
