Harvard Releases Firearms Research Database

The Harvard School of Public Health has released a new site called The Firearms Research Digest. The site has six years’ (2003-2008) worth of summarized research from social science, medical, criminology, and public health journals.

It’s available at http://www.firearmsresearch.org The site will eventually be expanded to include research from 1988 to the present.

You can do a simple keyword search for you can search by topics (a few dozen), year of research, or publication (there’s a huge list of publications available.) I did a search for storage and got 47 results, which were divided into sublistings including topics, keyword, and title.

The results include a list of related topics but the article list itself includes a title and expands into a variety of bibliographic information for the article and a short summary of the article itself. Articles get their own summary pages which contain links for printing or e-mailing.

I wanted to share this with my fellow Freepers on a matter very near and dear to us all but feel compelled to make note of the fact that I can not vouch for the veracity of anything you may discover at the site, posting the link that I believe would be of considerable interest here at FR.

The authoritative, scholarly credentials of Harvard University speak for themselves. Nevertheless, as we are well aware that statistics can be manipulated to prove whatever you want it to say and so, as we all know all too well, any information provided must of course be looked at with a jaundiced view and perspective, especially where the source is as venerable and acclaimed an institution of liberal, left-wing, moonbattery there is.

The question I pose is, is it possible to glean an objective, unbiased viewpoint on a matter that exemplifies the left-wing so definitively, in a way that validates the profundity of our second amendment rights as inalienable, from the study? My answer reflexively is an emphatic, absolute no but the fact is simply that I do not know, can not say.

Since it is harvard I assume it is biased and full of errors. Maybe Mr. Lott can look into it.

Interesting. I was confronted after the events on Saturday, and found these two links to rebut the “gun control-NOW” whiners.

You just knew Harvard would be more interested in indoctrination than scholarship. Most Ivy League schools ceased to be instituions of higher learning 40 years ago, when campus radicals started getting Ph.D.’s. Bill Ayers for instance.
