Unbelievable! Souvenir 'Together We Thrive' Logo T-Shirts Placed on Chairs at "Memorial"
Wednesday, January 12, 2011 | Kristinn

Posted on 01/12/2011 3:57:33 PM PST by kristinn

Is it a memorial or an Obama rally? Souvenir t-shirts emblazoned with the logo for the 'Together We Thrive' gathering at the University of Arizona were placed on chairs at the arena ahead of the memorial.

It's odd for a memorial to a mass murder to have a logo, but it's crass to hand out souvenir t-shirts.

Restricted Arizona Republic photo at link.

OOOH OOOH

mass murder commemorative T-shirts - where do I get mine?
Certain to be collector’s items. Will there be action figures too? Collector cards? A concert tour?

What a great way to kick off a presidential campaign
Even the Wellstone funeral din’t have T-shirts!

(Is that “together we thrive” or “together we jive”?
whatever!)

All he needs are his greek columns and a balloon drop like one freeper said in the other thread. This is going to be a national embarrassment...i can feel it coming. One student’s quote:

“Officials opened the doors at 4 p.m., and the crowd cheered. Attorney General Eric Holder also is attending.
“This is going to be, obviously, a huge event. One of those defining moments in American history,” said Phoenix resident David Bier, who arrived at 3:15 am.

Disgusting. I thought just naming the memorial was bad enough, particularly since it wasn’t named after any of the victims or even of the victims collectively. This is absolutely disgraceful. And the taxpayers have to pay for this embarrassment!

We don’t have a very big black population in Tucson, but the local media is finding them to interview at the hospital where most of the wounded are (UMC). One lady couldn’t even pronounce or seem to know the congresswoman’s name (I would say she was tongue-tied, but that’s being too nice) and just wanted to push her “I came here to see the first black president” agenda.

In general, I’m ashamed of most of the people they’re putting on to speak, I hope this footage doesn’t air nationally. We look like a bunch of buffoons, and of course everyone already knows about Dupnik now.

I truly hope Brewer leaves, saying something like, “The selling of T-shirts at a memorial is in very bad taste, and I’ll have no part of it,” and invites all of the victims’ friends and families to the governor’s mansion.

Hello,

I watched the Wellstone Funeral/Pep Rally live. It took my breath away that a death could/would be used in such a cheap and pathetic way. T-Shirts? This is looking to be the Wellstone Funeral/Pep Rally on steroids. If so the backlash will be huge.

You should see them lined up... at least all the footage I’m watching (on all three local channels) -— they fit the classic stereotype of the O-Zombie. Sloppily dressed and not lacking for food... some camped out since this morning (and maybe even overnight, I thought I heard that once).
