"At the memorial service for the victims of the shooting in Tucson, Arizona, President Obama said that Rep. Gabrielle Giffords opened her eyes for the first time after his (Wednesday) visit.

It was the first time she had opened her eyes since the shooting that wounded her Saturday outside a Tucson grocery store. "We all started crying," Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) said in a phone interview from Air Force One later Wednesday night. "Other than the birth of my children, it was the most incredible moment I have ever had."

Also in the room were Sen. Kirsten E. Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.)

Article must have been “scrubbed” because now it reads:

“Giffords was able to respond to simple commands” and later in the article it says:

“Giffords cannot speak because she is on a ventilator, and cannot see because of the area of her injury and the surgery requires her eyes be kept closed”

Irregardless, it is vomitous to any give implication whatsoever that Barry had anything to do with her eyes opening - An AP article was particularly sickening as it states:

“In an electrifying moment, the president revealed that Giffords, who on Saturday was shot point-blank in the head, had opened her eyes for the first time shortly after his hospital visit”

Found another link (LA Times) which said she had NOT opened her eyes on January 9th. Doctors remain hopeful for Gabrielle Giffords

........Giffords is being kept in a medically induced coma and is not able to speak because she is intubated, but when she is periodically awakened, she is able to respond to simple commands, such as squeezing her hand and showing two fingers..........

.........The Tucson doctors refused to say which hand Giffords was able to use. She is not able to open her eyes.

At best, the different reports of whether she had opened her eyes previously, are confusing. obama's "electrifying moment" came over as quite self-serving, but it IS good to hear Rep. Giffords continues to improve.

It’s probably best because I was so angry I’m sure I would’ve said something that I’d regret in the morning. This circus was the START of the campaigning. It wasn’t like any memorial service I’ve ever attended. It was a *Wellstone, light* service.

As other FReepers said, Gabby has opened her eyes before yesterday. BO had NOTHING to do with it but they media will play this lie over and over again and attribute this to his presence. Lie after lie....over and over until the brainless masses collectively know it must be true!

BTW...at the very end when BO and MO were shaking hands...did you notice a black girl come out of almost nowhere, make her way to MO for a BIG HUG? Did you notice that she was wearing the “Together We Thrive” shirt?

Obama went in her ICU room (what a rude thing) and shuts down the hospital to visit her just so he can (bottom line) campaign and try to fake a hail mary pass to the center. Obama opened his arms and her eyes opened he is the MSM savior.

I posted the question of why about the eye openings on my FB page last night. I asked why the discrepancy. I’ve been accused of trying to start an Obama conspiracy theory with the question and have no respect for the dead or living. I said I don’t like being lied to, especially in light of the dead and living. Folks are trying to make excuses for Obama. I guess they are hurting so bad, they need to have a miracle.

I saw that too and had exactly the same reaction. She seemed almost irritated, very unfocused at the questions. Probably because of the goofy way Greta opened her show - "She opened her eyes".

And about Fox reporting the truth about when she actually opened her eyes - there was a news conference with Giffords doctors and they were asked specifically about this. Their spin is that yesterday was the first "spontaneous" opening of her eyes as opposed to opening her eyes when asked to do so. That is the way Fox is now reporting it. That's not what Obama said and definitely not the way he was trying to portray it.

Are you joking? There is article which said the doctors wake her up every few hours to check on her. She didn’t miraculously awake by the sight of Pelosi or Obama.
