n the wake of the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, today Sen. Barbara Boxer called for federal regulations on concealed weapons permits, according to the Associated Press and the Los Angeles Times.

Arizona law allows any U.S. citizen 21 or older to carry a concealed weapon without a permit.

“The kind of gun laws we have here in California that give people their gun ownership rights while also preventing the sale of guns to criminals, to people with serious mental illness and people who may abuse a spouse or partner,” said the California Democrat at a press conference in Riverside.

Half-wit, liberal nutjobs trying to dictate gun law to the individual states. Damn but this woman makes me sick.

Great Idea: Let’s ban guns and speech we don’t like.

That’ll fix the problem. :)

California has discretionary laws that are corrupt. Your sheriff or local police chief in CA has the power to decide if you live or die.

And gun permits are almost always issued to celebrities, people with lots of money or political connections.

Average John can forget about carry concealed in CA.

Arizona law allows any U.S. citizen 21 or older to carry a concealed weapon without a permit.

So if AZ were a "no-issue" state Loughner never would've carried a handgun and shot a bunch of people, right Babs? He would've obeyed the law and kept his gun at home.

Boxer is such an idiot. Even California doesn't prohibit selling firearms to paranoid schizophrenics whose condition has not been determined by a court of law.

They let 'em run loose all over the place, and if they're Hispanic, they don't bother using limited public psychiatric services on them.

As long as they screw cheap and mow the grass cheap, people like Barbara Boxer are quite happy.

Criminals and lunatics always carry concealed and always will regardless of the law. Ban law abiding citizens from CCW and all you’ll have left is criminals and lunatics CCW’ng.

Murder is against the law. I think we should make it really REALLY against the law to murder people. That would fix it!

Babs is the queen of the monumentally stupid on the left.

More law is not the answer to this issue. The shooter would have managed to get a firearm, even if he had to steal one, if he so desired. Same for all the rest of the whackos in the world. The real answer is to arm yourself, train yourself, and protect yourself and your love ones as best you can. Do not count on the police. They are under NO obligation to protect you.

And, hang all that garbage about ‘vitriolic rhetoric’ and ‘extreme partisan politics’... The libtards need someone to blame. How about blaming the shooter? That would be too easy.

Typical program for the Left - Seize upon the act of a single deranged lunatic and present as an excuse to massively restrict or eradicate the rights of the entire population.

I'm actually a little nervous. Gun control has been political poison since '94 and all but abandoned by Democrats. But after this recent election, Democrats may be thinking "damned if we do, damned if we don't" and return to supporting gun control efforts, figuring they have nothing to lose. Obama, to his credit, hasn't really been beating the gun control drum since he's been in office but I have no doubt that if Congress placed a gun control bill on his desk, he'd sign it in a heartbeat.

This is definitely not a time to grow complacent.

.preventing the .....people with serious mental illness and people who may abuse a spouse or partner,”

If we used this litmus test for election to Congress, half the Democrat Caucus and ALL of the Progressive Caucus would be on the street.
