In Tucson Response, Palin Disqualifies Herself (from presidency)
L.A. Times via The Baltimore Sun ^ | Thursday, January 13, 2011 | Doyle McManus

Posted on 01/14/2011 7:52:04 AM PST by kristinn

Sarah Palin wasn't responsible for the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords last weekend — not directly, not indirectly......

Still, the Arizona shootings and their aftermath will probably be remembered as the end of Ms. Palin's chances of being taken seriously as a Republican presidential candidate. She had an opportunity to rise to an occasion, and she whiffed......

Republican officeholders, fundraisers and political strategists aren't flocking to Ms. Palin's side either.

"I don't see it happening," a top Republican fundraiser told me this week (though he asked for anonymity in case he turns out to be wrong). "I don't think she intends to run. She's not doing what she needs to do if she's serious about running. If she does run, she's going to be humbled. She's losing support among Republicans. I don't think they see her as a president of the United States.".......

Ms. Palin had a chance with her statement on the Tucson tragedy to show voters she's equal to the demands of the presidency. Instead, the eight-minute video she released Wednesday reflected her chosen role as lightning rod of the right. Rather than rise to the occasion, she continued the partisan slugfest......

Doubtless there are conservatives who will thrill to Ms. Palin's pugnacity. But voters in the center, where presidential elections are won, don't like the idea of politics as a blood sport. They yearn for vision, stature, steadiness, a nod toward the ideal of bipartisan compromise and evidence of real competence — from conservative and liberal candidates alike.

Ms. Palin has given them none of those things. She's making her mark as a leader of one faction, but only one. She's a genuine cult figure, raising millions of dollars from donors, selling books and starring on television. But she's not going to be her party's presidential nominee.

McManus is a knee-jerk Democrat capo. He and his ilk have managed over a quarter-century to destroy a once-great newspaper. Frankly, his writing (including the article on Palin) are not to be taken seriously.

This is a load of crap. The same load they've been piling on for years. Reagan was too Conservative. And he whooped a$$. Whenever we run a decent Conservative candidate, we can't lose.

Moved on to a new song.

Perhaps attorney letters have gone out to those who engaged in blood libel?

CHRONOLOGY OF ANY EVENT:

1) Negative Event Occurs.
2) Immediately blame Sarah Palin.
3) Events unfold showing Sarah Palin not at fault, or even involved.
4) Blame Sarah Palin harder.
5) IF SARAH PALIN DOES NOT RESPOND: Declare her out-of-touch and non-Presidential.
6) IF SARAH PALIN RESPONDS MILDLY: Declare her wishy-washy and incapable of leadership.
7) IF SARAH PALIN RESPONDS FORCEFULLY: Declare her too provocative and incendiary.

First response: "This whole shooting thing is Palin's fault! All right-thinking people hate her!"
Second response: "Palin should say something. Her silence means she's not a leader! All right-thinking people hate her!"
Third response: "Palin's response is partisan and the divisiveness is all her fault! She's not presidential!"

These guys are pathetic.

Sarah loves the truth, not vile human nature. Only focus in the truth can set us free from the Obama and his friends, slide into destruction Americas is on. Sarah speaks the truth, so the liars hate her.

Maybe she won’t run, but it probably has more to do with the reality program on Discovery than her reaction to the shootings. Even in this day of reality shows, a potential POTUS need not expose their life to that extent.

But she should NEVER be linked to the Tucson tragedy, ever, nor should Rush, Levin or anyone else. The kid had no interest in Fox News, talk radio or even the news in general.

Why is this fool trying to interpret what she said and mean? the video is out there for people to determine for themselves - looks like he wants to be a gatekeeper for news and the interpretation of it

Sarah will decide what she will do, not the Rats, not the E-GOP and not the media. Collectively they have tried everything in their tool box to bring her down and it hasn't worked. They don't know how to deal with a political opponent who stands her ground and gives it right back to them. God bless you, Sarah Palin.

The leftist hysteria regarding Sarah Palin seems like it will backfire.

Thus far we know that 60% of the public do not believe conservative politics had anything to do with the killing.

Given that one datapoint, we could deduce that 60% of the public is supportive of Sarah Palin in this assault from the left.

It does not look like a winning strategy to keep making false charges against Sarah Palin.

Whether you like her or not she needs to be defended because this is the treatment any conservative who sticks her head up from the pack will get.

Neither I nor anyone in my family or circle of friends ever considered her for president.

The left was pushing her to annoint her like they did McCain.

I have yet to understand the degree of malice towards her from the left.
