South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint (R), whose Senate Conservatives Fund is a major Tea Party fundraising force, chimed in Friday morning on which candidates he may endorse in the open seat Texas Senate race.

In an e-mail to supporters less than 24 hours after Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R) announced she won't seek re-election, DeMint poured cold water on the potential candidacy of Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst (R) and touted potential contenders Railroad Commissioner Michael Williams (R) and former solicitor general Ted Cruz (R).

I am not a Dewhurst fan and thought of him as a RINO.

Dewhearst has struck me as very experienced in BAU (business as usual)having never stuck his neck out for grassroots concerns outside of what RINO politics would tolerate.

Don’t know where DeMint gets his background on state politics but he is undoubtedly and superbly in the know, as usual. DeMint needs to be rewarded for his leadership and ability to thread the needle between all the conservative aspirants to the presidency without wounding the various supporters for these candidates or distancing the candidates themselves from himself or his conservative goals.

I think I just heard on WBAP Williams has thrown his hat in. He was just waiting to see what Kay was doing. Mark Davis was thinking Williams, Medina on the other side of aisle Mr. Bill White.

Yes, I like both too.

Let's hope that the future debates between Texas Freepers regarding their picks for Senatoer will be civil, rational and contain FACTS instead of the derangement I often see here, e.g., "Gov Good Hair is a RINO!"

Railroad commissioner. No Willie greens, not ever.

The Railroad Commission no longer regulates or promotes railroads; they are now regulated by TXDOT. The TX RRC regulates and maintains information on the oil and gas industry.

LOL!
“Willie Green. Where did he go my friend.”

Sounds like a 60’s hippie song. I need to write more words. Make it a Bob Dylan/mega commie Pete Seeger like hobo tune about riding the rails for TARP money.

I very much agree with DeMint’s choices!

Michael Williams or Ted Cruz would both make a GREAT U.S. Senator for Texas!

Michael Williams WAY too much in oil industry pocket. I’m all for drilling, but he ignored the people in the push for drilling (compressor stations with no soundproofing, no noise reduction on drilling or operations, etc). More of a corporate conservative than a Texas conservative.

Dan Patrick, good person. Look for Atty General Greg Abbott to throw his hat in the ring. Would support him as well.

Questions:

What about the other TRC commissioner..Elizabeth Ames Jones..she's also running for the Senate..has a website, and seems very conservative.

Also..Texas is gonna get FOUR new congressional districts...it depends on the district lines, but have potential GOP candidates started to indicate interest.

Will White run for the Dem senate nomination?

LOL! (not gonna happen)

Michael Williams has said from the beginning he would run for the job as soon as Kay resigns.

Dewhurst likely Senate candidate

I sure like Mike Williams. It would be awesome to send a black conservative to the Senate.
