Three Republicans introduce bill in Congress to save cross atop Mt. Soledad
January 12, 2011 | 5:35 pm

Three Republican members of Congress from San Diego County have introduced a bill aimed at blocking the removal of the cross atop public land on Mt. Soledad in San Diego.

The bill submitted by Reps. Duncan D. Hunter of Alpine, Darrell Issa of Vista and Brian Bilbray of Solana Beach comes in reaction to a decision by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals last week that the 43-foot-tall cross violated the constitutional separation of church and state by seeming to endorse a particular religion.

The bill would allow religious symbols that are part of military monuments.

Bilbray and Hunter have also urged U.S. Atty. Gen. Eric Holder and Secretary of Defense Robert Gates to continue the legal fight to keep the cross from being removed. The land beneath the cross has been under the control of the federal government since 2006.

There are some that probably want to tear it down and build a mosque in its place. Since our country was founded on Christian/Judeo principles, it needs to stay.

The President ignored the leaders of the VFW,American Legion and at least one other veterans organization when they asked the President to intervene and allow their voice be heard when the atheists went after the Mojave Cross. When the memorial erected in 1934 by veterans of WWI was stolen by some misguided thief who was angry over what Justice Kennedy rightly said about such monuments -the President did nothing. Encouraged by their victory in the desert the transmission belts to Soviet Communist Dictatorship (the ACLU and their useful idiots on the bench went gunning for the removal of the Mt.Soledad Cross Memorial An Easter cross stood at that site since 1913 but in 1954 that cross was replaced with th e present structure and reclaimed as a War Memorial,Those who do not understand or do not like what the First Amendment actually says want it removed and Americas’ Veterans are expected to do nothin-”don’t mean nothin! does it? Like H-— it doesn’t.I want our Memorials left as erected. And the Constitution interpreted by our Courts as it was adopted.(or amended by Congress)

Muslims use our freedom of speech to build a mosque to show that they conquered the World Trade Center and we let them, but WE aren’t supposed to put a cross on federal territory to honor our troops. Either we have freedom of speech or we don’t, and if we don’t, ALL mosques in this country should be torn down.
