Together We Thrive? The Marxist Message Behind the Memorial.

The Origins of the Collectivist Message Behind Obama's Tucson Pep Rally

Even after nearly a week of the Left’s vitriolic and unwarranted public lynching of the Right over last Saturday’s massacre by a left-wing lunatic in Tuscon, I was willing to give the President the benefit of the doubt after (by most accounts) doing well in delivering Cody Keenan’s well-drafted speech on Wednesday. Heck, even his teleprompter performed without flaw, the pauses built in right at the appropriate applause lines. Although it appears as though the Obama White House was lying in wait for an Oklahoma City Moment so the Campaigner-in-Chief could try to get his mojo back, as long as there were no Roman Candles going off, I was willing to forgive the tackiness of the T-Shirts thinking, “Okay, the perpetual campaigner has to have a campaign slogan.”

I really was willing to overlook all of that. I really was. I wanted to. I tried to. But I can’t.

Not when, this morning, I found myself reminded just how phony this President really is. It wasn’t just that the President didn’t write his own speech (most don’t anyway), and it wasn’t only that he seized the moment in a politically opportunistic way after the accusations from his surrogates were flung at everyone on the Right, from Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck, to ordinary Americans. No, that was irritating. But the last straw was learning the origins of the slogan “Together We Thrive” that pushed tolerating the narcissism over the edge.

The Tucson event was billed as a memorial to those wounded and those slain on Saturday by a deranged Marx-reading madman. While the President appeared to do his best to set a tone of reconciliation to the divisiveness and rancor his supporters and the media had caused (and are still causing) throughout the week since the shooting, the origin of the “Together We Thrive!” slogan was revealed to be nothing more (and nothing less) than a theme stolen from the Obama for America 2008 campaign—and, more importantly, the message behind the posting was one of those Marxist, Collectivist dribblings that is the cause of so much criticism from the Right over the past two years.

Posted by John Berry IV on February 11, 2008:

For too long Americans have been set one against the other, it is a side affect of a free market society. How can profits be maximized, how can I get the work done for the lowest possible costs. This continually sets one group against the other, especially in the blue collar sectors of America. It has become a part of the American Business model, whether it was indentured servants, slaves picking cotton, sharecroppers, the industrious people that built the railroads or todays migrant workers. As long as we remain divided, fighting for the scraps that America has to offer it will be one group against the other.

What I see in Obama is a chance for a revolution. A chance for every group to participate and be heard; A chance to live the American dream that has been denied to so many. Together we can and will change the world and return America to the shining beacon of Hope and Prosperity that we were and that we can be again. Only when we work together do we accomplish feats that rival any ever accomplished in the history of mankind. Diversity is our strength, that is what this campaign brings us a promise of. For many this is a scary prospect and thought, getting to know someone different from myself. We all want the same basic things for example a safe place to live, health and a quality education for our kids.

In a previous career, I was the global leader of Diversity for a global fortune 500 corporation, I have studied the affects of diverse groups working together and the results can not be denied. Together we Thrive!!!!!!!!!!!

Given that the theme was so easily identified as being part of the OFA blog back in 2008, there is little doubt that whoever the White House’s crisis campaign manager was who picked the “Together We Thrive” theme could not have read the posting below the title. This means that the White House is okey-dokey with the anti-free market message, as well as the references back to indentured servitude and slavery. There is nothing “healing” in that message.

After days of watching the Left slam the Right for the actions of a lunatic, it has become clearer than ever that Obama’s pep rally in Tucson was nothing more than an attempt to get the microphone back.

Yeah, I like this piece. It helped me sort out the issue a bit better.

I’ve been “defending” Obama’s speech while neglecting to voice my disapproval of the rally itself. It was disgusting, inappropriate and inexcusable. And it made Obama’s speech seem good by comparison.

Sick of the Marxists, Stalinists (I met one the other day), and every other flavor of liberal.

Yes, I am glad someone is debunking that farce. The sad part is: seems to me here is still a lot of people in America who are not getting it..I would not be surprised that guy gets re-elected.

“Together we thrive,” because, as everybody knows, “it takes a village.”
It’s all about the communism with these scumbags. It’s always about the communism.

Voila.

From Daily Kos on January 14, 2011:

Host a SOTU "Together We Thrive" PROGRESS PARTY! It's time to Network For Progress!

We need to put the "working" into NETroots!

Join us in DC and/or reach your local Obama/OFA, Progressive, Democratic and other Cause or Civic-minded groups and activists to host a State of the Union Party on Tue 1/25 and future collaborations so we can re-build the coalition that has been neglected since November 2008. Although OFA has done lots of great work the Social, Social Media & Media outreach efforts we need to compete with the GOP's Fox News/Tea Party "Axis of Evil" have to be more coordinated for us to Mainstream HOPE over Fear in the public discourse.

If you would like to discuss ways we can strengthen our "Yes We Can" Movement in 2012 and beyond please email Jim...

Nah, "Together We Thrive" isn't political.

The apex of "together" with barack obama happened in 2008, now just ask yourself the question, "Have we - as a country, or individually - THRIVED the last two years?"

For those who believe that, how much more stupid can you be? Past behavior is the best indicator of future behavior...and most anyone can see through the dog and pony show he's putting on now.

I will make this prediction: If barack obama gets re-elected in 2012 there will never be another "election" (as we know it) in America. As a lame-duck with nothing to lose, he will pull out all the stops and we will be a dictatorship, probaby worse than Chavez.

If we listen to the liberal media, we may as well go ahead and swear him in now - but they are wrong. Only a small portion of the population is backing this commie marxist, and the only way he will win is to pull some more ACORN $h!+ with the "billion" dollars he's planning to use for his election.

No one THRIVES under barack obama and his commie democrats but barack obama and his commie democrats. That is a fact, a truism, and is supported by his brief history in politics.

“Together We Thrive”
U of A, Political Campaign, January, 2011

He has never made an attempt to hide his agenda. The fact he was elected to our nation’s highest office should have tripped any number of loud alarms.

ANY doubt I had about the contrived nature of this “thrive meme” was erased this morning when the half-hour news had a clip of Sec. of State Hillary Clinton saying that:

China needs America to THRIVE if it is to succeed and America needs China to THRIVE if it is to succeed. Check it out. To me this is proof of a coordinated strategy. Expose it please. I don’t know how to find or post the clip but I heard it.

No, the patient is losing ground.
Diagnosis: Failure to thrive.

There’s no need to defend the speech. It was pablum.

There has not been any sort of connection established between politics and the Tucson shooting. Therefore, references to it are non sequitur and inappropriate. Discussing the non-sequitur only gives credence to the lie. Leaders do not lie.

Yet, since he did choose to perpetuate the lie, it should be noted that a leader takes responsibility. A leader leads from the front and does not ask others to do that which he will not do himself. Had he been honest and said, “I have contributed to the trouble political discourse in this country and therefore the healing will begin with my own words”, that’s something I could have admired.

However, since I do not currently have a President, there is certainly nothing to admire in this man.

Thank you for your research on this. It is important.

I am going to propose from here on in, to everyone I know and to all who I can reach online, a reading of Stanley Kurtz's Radical-in-Chief. It is the most important expalnation of Obama, and of those around him, and of those he learned from.

Until one reads that book, one does not possess the full picture, and until one possesses the full picture, one cannot put this administration, and its handling of an "event" like Tuscon, into proper focus. Because the Chicago socialist groups whose ideas and strategies largely run this administration have always operated through stealth, every single word and action coming from them must be examined in light of their socialist first principles.

"Together we thrive" sounds like a leftover motto from Mao's Great Leap Forward or a new motto for Michelle Obama's nutrition policies.

I hope you didn’t get the impression that I admire Obama. I want him out of office so bad I can taste it. I oppose practically everything he has done since I first heard about him during the Democratic National Convention when Kerry got the nod. The man is dangerous to this country.

I liked that he clearly stated that it was NOT a lack of civility that lead to the shooting. That rings with more honesty than anything else he has said.

He clearly called for people not to use the Tucson shooting as an excuse to turn on each other. I can’t argue with that.

I have no illusions that this was anything more than a political opportunity for him. I’m not naive, nor am I stupid. But the speech itself is not a problem or issue.

I was so focused on the speech, because of my own desire to dismiss it as more political crap, that I failed to focus on the rally itself. The rally was the real problem. The speech was just a small part of the equation.

It would be nice if Obama EVER took responsibility for ANYTHING. I have such low expectations that something like this strikes me as an improvement. How sad is that?

“I’ve been “defending” Obama’s speech while neglecting to voice my disapproval of the rally itself.”

Are you serious? All of TV is behind him including Fox supposedly loving his speech. The Media, Hollywood and TV are s**t. Until the public goes totally Galt and pulls the plug on this 24x7 propaganda then they are in total control. They are working to consilidate that control. Obama is gonna raise $1 billion for re-election.
