Who is this ‘England’ of which you speak? We are all individuals, and not the policies of our respective governments... With that in mind, I as an Englishman think this decision was stupid. Although, if he had a British passport, he wouldn’t have needed to apply for a Visa to enter the US...

Exactly. What is the world coming to when a person who is eligible for a British Passport doesn't avail himself of one?

Actually the Foreign Secretary under the previous Labour Government.

I'm an Anglophile myself, and I have relatives over there. But I have not been especially happy about the changes in government and culture that have been going on for the past 50 years and more. Similarly, I have not been especially happy about the way things have gone in America.

The current UK government is no longer Labour, but as far as I can see things haven't improved that much, either. And the Liberal Democrats are even worse than Labour.
